Does anyone have a Bigsby on their Telecaster?
I was wondering about installing one...any thoughts?

Hi:

I considered installing one on my 1994 MIM Tele, but after looking at it decided not to. 2 months ago I got married and my wife bought me a Paisley Telecaster that had a bigsby on it. In fact it has the fender "F" on it. I have 5 Telecasters and i find myself really liking the bigsby so much so I'm not using my Jazzmaster as much. I'm pretty mechanical but didnt want to mess up my guitar by installing the bigsby incorrectly

Cheers for that. I've only been thinking about it since I got the 6120... Congratulations on the "getting married" by the way!
I think, based on your advice/experience I'll leave mine be, as I'd hate to spoil it too!

Look at my post on a project of mine. I'm a huge fan of Bigsby tremolo and Telecaster. Telecaster + Bigsby = style and vibe!

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30656&start=15

I'm using it since a year now and it is my favorite guitar. I broke some strings cuz I'm a little heavy on the vibrato (or a little crazy on stage), but it makes my guitar more varsatile.

Try it, you won't regret.

Hi Mark, installing a Bigsby on a guitar such as a Tele wouldn't be too complicated for anyone with a knack for mechanical work, basically as long as you keep things lined up equally you're home free.Pete Townshend used Bigsby equipped Teles in the late 60s and early 70s .I believe that's what he used on Doctor Doctor on the Magic Bus album.

hey there, I've installed a bigsby on my TELE, and it's not very difficult. the only thing I
can't stand about it now is a bigsby is a pain in the butt to re-string. Here's a little tip
that I use, place a dime or penny underneath the spring, that way you can get a little
more dive out of it. Aside from stringing it up, they're tons of fun. I say go for it! and
while you're at it, reverse the control plate, the vol. knob can get in the way.

Will installing the bigsby be a problem closing the lid on the guitar case as it protrudes the body quite a bit more?
