I've had my JS Tele for a little over a week now. It is a great playing guitar and is fast becoming one of my favorites in my collection.

Only problem is... the input jack is not in very tight. I have to look closely to see about tightening it up. As it stands, the cable comes loose if you move even a little bit while playing.

I am impressed with the build quality out of Mexico (input jack not withstanding) considering the $900 street price.

So what's the consesus here? Leave the stencils, stickers, and such in their little pastic sleeve. Or go at, and try to recreate Mr. Strummer's guitar at some particular point in time. Do you trash the value or increase it with a good replica job? :?:

I reckon I'd give it a go with the stencils, nothing as elaborate the examples on the website though. It's got to be played.

Should the stencils stay or should they go?

IMO - I've opted to leave them in their plastic sleeve. Does anyone else think JS would roll over in his grave if he knew his symbol of individualism was being duplicated with a carbon copy DIY kit? :)

As for affecting value... I think a guitar with stickers will not be worth as much as an unadulterated version because it allows the new owner to also make the decision of customizing or not.

As an aside, has anyone else seen multiples of this guitar at the same time? I've seen three and none of the finishes looked exactly alike. I like that...

haven't seen any all together, but I have one and started stickering. Only one I felt had to stay true was ignore alien orders, the rest are where I think they're gonna look best. I also think I might paint the pickguard primer then black and I'll probably end up throwing some stencils on there too. Oh and also, it will be getting played. A lot. Hope anyone who has one is enjoying it as much as I am.

I am having a blast playing mine daily and my other guitars are getting a little jealous...

Stickers on certain guitars look cool and this is one of those guitars, IMO. My initial response to not sticker, was directly to the question on whether or not the guitar would be worth more on resale if the stickers were in the pack or on the guitar.

BTW - I've never been able to bring myself to put a sticker on a guitar because I've never seen a sticker I wanted to live with for the rest of the guitar and player relationship. Probably the same reason I've never gotten a tattoo. :D

I've applied some stickers and stencils to replicate the look of the one shown on the Fender Website. See below for the picture. I've also upgraded the bridge pickup to a Lindy Fralin Blues Special. Now the guitar sounds as good as it looks and feels. I love this tattered old beast!
