Hello all. I've seen many posts detailing people's opinions on hanging guitars on walls and I haven't really come to a conclusion myself on any of them. I am interested in hanging my '72 tele on the wall which is a stud wall. I need to know if it is safe hanging a 9lb/4.1kg guitar on a stud wall. Also, I have seen a couple of Fender brand wall mounts floating around on the web. Do Fender produce wall mounts?! I think it would be cool to have a couple of Fender wall mounts for my tele and herald acoustic to show where my main allegiance lies . My stud wall is made from wooden studs with plasterboard and breezeblock with a small gap in between. I'm not too worried about hanging my acoustic because it is only 4lbs/1.8kg.

I must admit, in fact it does not seem a very good displays The Monkees poster.
But for the record it was the TV series "The Monkees" which has brought very promptly make music in my youth. At that time I did not even know they were not real musicians and it did not matter, it made me dream.
Even if later I discovered the deception, that The Monkees brought me is unforgettable.

Hi Guys,
I have a wall mount (Hercules) in a stud wall. It holds my Telecaster nicely, though i don't store it there. I just use the hanger to place the guitar while I'm playing, as such (if someone knocks on the door, or the kids want something, etc).
I have been brave enough to hang my Gretsch G6120EC on that hanger too, though being hollow, it's probably lighter than a Telecaster.
I've always liked the look of guitars on walls, like in the pics above, but it worries me that they'd get dusty. How do you get around that?

If you hang it on the plasterboard, you need to use anchors. I would find a stud and use wood screws into the stud.

All of my guitars (and a bass) live on my Hercules wall hangers. Once they're screwed into the studs, there is no way they're falling down. I used my own 2 1/2" wood screws rather than the stock screws that came with the hangers because I wanted them nice and secure. I like the Hercules ones because they have the paddles that flip up to lock your guitar into the stand when the weight is on the claw. Also, they hold Tele headstocks perfectly without the guitar resting on the tuner peg.

They're amazing in that:
a) the guitars look great on the wall
b) way less clutter because you get them off the floor stands

Also, the Hercules hangers are nitro friendly. I've had a nitro finished guitar on a hanger since May and no problems with the finish.

Hi Michael,I'd do what it appears Strat-tele 52 has done that's take a piece of 1 X 4 and anchor it into the studs on the wall, that way wherever you put your hanger it's into solid board. If you would like to feel more secure you could use 2 X 4 and that would give your screws even more solid wood to take hold in.

CRGuitarman sweet collection, every one of your guitars is a keeper.

Look at my BIG photo . I use a 1 X 3 piece of wood I installed horizontally and is screwed to the wall studs. This way I can screw my guitar stand anywhere on the wood piece and easily with standard wood screw.

The wood idea is cool because you can change your layout if you want.

However, just FYI that if your studs are 16" on centre then that is about the perfect spacing for the hangers.

This is one of the reasons I used solid 3/4" T&G pine for the walls of my Music Room. It doesn't matter where I want a guitar hung, there's good solid wood behind the hanger. And having solid wood walls let's me hang guitars exactly where I want them - vertically as well as horizontally.

And speaking of changing the layout, that's exactly what I did last week. I decided to get a bit more "regular" with my guitar hangers so that I could get another couple of guitars on the north wall. I also rearranged amplifiers, so guitars had to be moved.

Of course, after you move your hangers around you need to do some repair of the old holes. A little matching filler does the trick and everything looks great. I went with a natural finish on the wall wood to keep things simpler and brighter, a couple layers of sprayed lacquer and up it went.
