Are all of these basically the same. Kind of like Jazzmaster - Jagmaster - Jaguar ?

I want to get one but I've never been into it. The body of the Tele always looked odd to me, but they sound great so I'm going to buy one.

Lets say if you were going to suggest the best of the best for a Tele or Esquire, what would you present as the finest to the buyer?

Thanks - Donn C

If you want to learn everything there is to know about the early history and design of these guitars, buy this book:

Please define 'best'? :?

My favorite is a Tele, but I've played some nice Esquires and NoCasters too.

Yeah, for sure I'll buy that book. Thanks

And by the 'best' I mean is there a particular series or year that any of those types were made with top notch bridges, pickups, nice woods and that sort of thing. I know alot of it is personal preference but I would like to get one without having to completely strip it naked and start dressing it. But I guess this is almost pointless anyways considering I would have to try one by one to figure out what i like best.

Xory,

Half the fun is trying all kinds to decide which one speaks to you.

Although the Shape and concept have remained basically the same for 60 years, there are a ton of variations on the theme (body woods, fretboard woods, pickups, bridges, etc).

Keeping playing them until one asks you to take it home. Be warned though, once you get it home, it will beg you to bring him friends home. Telecasters are addicting like no other guitar.

A '53 Tele is quite nice...if you can find one. Vince Gill has one and Roy Buchanan had one.

Is there a big price range between the two? or is it more of being Ligit. (I'm guessing it means 'the real deal' because i own a couple vintage guitars and they have way more value then ones that come out today) . I probably don't quite have the money for an original release right now.

I've been the local music shop and i played a few, but i may have to go back and raise some hell on actually pickin' one out. I'll do some more research before i make the the final move.

....until then.
