Yeah I love my MIM Tele. It's absolutely smokin'!

But I don't know if something was wrong with the stock pickups... but they didn't have any clarity at all. Just muddy.

So I installed a set of Fender Original Vintage Tele pickups and it's now much better. Crystal clear glassy non-harsh high end.... but I can still get huge fat tone by rolling back the tone knob a little and cranking up the amp.

I'm not a big guitar modder. If I like the way a guitar sounds stock.... I'm happy. I'm not gonna go through a bunch of trouble and expense just to get .07 % better tone out of a guitar.

But in the case of my MIM Tele.... I had to change out the pickups... and it was 100% better tone.

If they are too muddy adjust the pickups slightly away from the strings. Most mims do not need mods, especially the 08 upgrade and years above. The older ones do not sound as full.

I just got done replacing the stock bridge with a vintage reissue. Love it!!! The sound is brighter and it has that "twang" sound.

Same here, as of yesterday. Definitely brighter and more twangy.

If your looking for a "better" sound, just save your money and upgrade to a "better" guitar later. Then you'll have two nice guitars!

I'm not good enough a guitarist to justify the expense, personally. Even my MIM Tele was probably over-the-top.
