Actually this is why I bought a Squier. You should buy whatever your heart desires and whatever your budget allows. I’ve been playing strats and LP’s all my life (I was born during the Eisenhower administration!) and currently own a MIA standard strat and a MIM FSR strat. As well as a LP. I never owned a telecaster or even played one until several months ago. I was at GC looking for a new pedal. While the clerk was unboxing the pedal, I went to the wall to grab a strat to use. They were all up high, but there was a telecaster hanging right in front of me that caught my eye because it had the same glossy tinted maple neck that my FSR strat has, so I grabbed it. I assumed it was a Fender but I didn’t really pay close attention. I plugged the guitar and pedal into a Blues Jr. since that’s what I use and began to test drive an MXR classic OD pedal. I really liked the pedal but the more I played, the more I began to like the guitar. It really felt good in my hands. That’s when I looked closer and saw it was a Squier Classic Vibe 50’s telecaster. I was really impressed but I was there to buy a pedal so that’s all I left with. My interest in telecasters was peaked however and I started to read about them and think about them and window shop online for them and before you know it, I had a full blown case of GAS. I wanted a tele! I set my budget low. I decided I would only go as high as the price of a new Mexican and no higher. I watched Craig’s list for a month or so hoping a MIA would pop up but I don’t have the patience to wait for a deal. I went to GC to do some comparisons and the first axe I looked for was that CV 50s that I had played before. But it was gone. I stayed away from the Americans. I figured why taste the honey? It wasn’t in my budget. They had 4 Mexican standards, a couple of Squier CV customs and one Squier standard. I played all of them and ironically the cheapest one, the Squier standard tele, played the best. That thing was only $230. Like the Mexican teles I played, it lacked the mojo of the CV 50s tele that I had remembered. Plus it had a RW fingerboard and I prefer the maple. I really wanted to like the Mexican Fenders. I love my Mexican strat. I would have bought one that day if one had felt right. But none did. A few more weeks went by and the thought of that CV 50s continued to eat at me. So I logged on to mf.com and ordered one. Fender was running a $25 instant rebate deal bringing the cost down to $325. Since I was well under budget, I thought, “What’s a new guitar without a new amp”, and I added a Champion 600 to my order! I ended up getting a very sweet rig for the same amount I had budgeted for just the guitar. But the free amp was not the only reason I chose the Squier over the Mexican Fender. The Squier has appointments you will not find on the Fender. I mentioned the glossy tinted neck and headstock. It’s smooth as glass and dark with an aged appearance. I bought the vintage blonde model and the color makes the whole guitar looks retro. It has vintage style tuners, brass barrel saddles and an etched neck plate. There is nothing cheap looking or feeling about the guitar. I was so happy when the guitar arrived and it played and felt just like the one I had remembered from the store. I put a set of Slinkys on it and it instantly became my new favorite player!! I have played it every day since I got it. It sounds so sweet plugged into my new Champion 600. I am in 50’s heaven!! I’m proud to have a Squier in the stable and IMO, this guitar is worthy enough to sit next to my “other” Fenders any day.

Though not quite the same, the Frugal Guitarist recommends the Squier Vintage Modified Strats, and says that they would give most midrange guitars a run for the money:

I loved the squier 60's classic vibe strat. I ordered one. after a month of waiting for any news, i called and they still had no idea when to expect one, so I cancelled order and got a standard telecaster. Im happy with the tele, and will look for the CV when im ready to get a strat. Nice looking rigs arnt they!

Nice looking Tele - I love that classic blonde color - the pictures I've seen of the CV 50's look really white - this is nice!

I was very tempted to buy 2 Squiers on a recent trip to my fave Mom & Pop store Reid Music. They had a lovely Tele Thinline and a sweet 1972 Vintage Tele Deluxe. They were both just beautiful and the fit and finish was just incredible especially when I could have gotten both of them taxes in for under $600.

It's one of those colors that changes when the lighting changes. In low light, it appears white, but in daylight, it has more of a yellowed ivory appearance. Very cool!

I come from the Acoustic Planet and Wanted to make a switch, Low Budget so I bought the Tele you Have. Classic Vibe '52. I am completely satisfied for now and I'm having hundreds of hours of fun. The only doubt I have is about the electronic components inside the guitar and how they will respond to sound with time passing. But I love it, I Like it. Sounds Very Good. :)

Squire makes some nice guitars, especially the higher end models are nothing to scoff at. I bought a used Shepard Fairey "OBEY" tele a couple of days ago. It's impressive, well made, and sounds great. I put a black pick guard on my white blonde Fender Classic 50's Tele and it looks just like your Squire. Yours even has the vintage tuners! Only difference, I can see, is that I paid more.
