I have vintage telecaster that has a blank brass neckplate. Can anyone tell if there were any telecasters that came like that? It may be a replacement but it appears to be as old as the guitar.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Please provide clear, detailed photos of the guitar: neck, headstock, body (front and back), etc.

Here are some pictures. I found this guitar in a pawn shop years ago. It had been cracked probably over someones head. I had it repaired professionally. The darker lines in the body is where it was broken. When I saw the date on the neck and realized the Thinline 69 came out about the time this neck was dated, I realized that maybe this was a rare find. However the neckplate has always puzzled me.

Any feedback would appreciated. I'm looking for how to attach the pictures. Can't find it. Need help.

Given that the rest of the hardware is chrome or nickle, I would say the neck plate has either been replaced with a brass one or the chrome plating has worn off of a brass neck plate.

Either way, it is not original to the guitar. Correct?

Too, any idea what a value on this guitar would be? Low and high.

The tuners were replaced at some time.
The pickup is not original.
The pick guard is not original.

No S/N showing anywhere, other than the neck markings.

I believe that for that vintage guitar the serial number was stamped on the neck plate. Since it is not there, I would say the neck plate is not original.

Without the serial number it would be impossible to establish the provenance of the guitar and thus impossible to establish a value. As it sits now, it is just a partscaster.
