I have had mine for a few months now and I love it. To me it is a close to a 51 reissue as you can get feel wise but for half the price. Plus with the s1 switch all the normal tele sounds plus a couple extra. My only complaint was that no store near me carried it to try out so I had to buy it sight unseen, it all worked ou fine. Hope this helps.

You could check them out on YouTube, lots of vids of guys playin their Player Baja Teles on there. And of couse you can go into a shop and try some guitars out and see what you think yourself.

I think the Baja sounds as good as the MIA. What sold me was the thick neck. I really like the chuncky feel but I couldn't find any I liked other that the 51 RI and I couldn't justify the $1600 price. The Baja was the best option for half the price.

I'm with you, Patter - the neck feels great. I've tried to like the new (2008 & up) American Standards, but the neck just feels too thin. I like the Baja's tinted maple neck, and the value is there considering the features you get. The Baja is my only Tele, and that's fine with me - it just feels right. Plenty of tonal variation w/the S-1.

I have also, too a blond with black scratchpad and I love it. The pups are just great sounding both clear and with gain. It´s an early one so I had to make some redrilling to get the scratchpad plain. I have made some changes on the guitar to make it look more like a 50:s :D

Quick note, it might need to be set up, mine did. I was able to do it myself without a problem. The action was a little too high and intonation was off. It was good to play before but once it was set up it was and has been great.

ive just spent most of the day at my local guitar shop, played almost every fender they had, which is about 30, it was a toss up between the 60 year anniversary tele and the baja... i came home with the baja, just the feel of the neck and the sound was awsome, i like the big thick necks... and it sounds pretty sweet with my blues deluxe so im happy

DaRok, got to photobucket.com, it is free, you just upload and then you can post them here.

As for the Baja Telecasters, they are great. Sound fine, great playability, and workmanship is on par with any MIA. The only reason I don't have one yet is because I have a great MIJ '54 Esquire.

FWIW
