Nut width = 1.6875" or 43mm

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

on mine, the strings at the saddle are 2 and 1/16 inches apart. The saddles are 2 and 15/32 inches.

String spacing is measured from "E" to "E". The saddles are sized accordingly. It is the string spacing that matters.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I thought that was the case, but threw in the extra measurement so as to practice with my new ruler.
2 followup questions if I may:
I know it will be a subtle difference, but the string spacing will change with the string gauge - does anyone worry about this?
wrt to the nut spacing...why not report the E to E distance rather than the actual nut width?
cheers,
Alex

No. Trivial difference. You can't do anything about it anyway.

I think what is really being asked by this question is the width of the neck at the nut.
