Uhhh, please tell me your kidding.

The knob closest to the switch is the volume control and the other one is the tone control. Are you next going to ask what the switch is for?

You might want to read the owner's manual before posting any more questions here.

well that made me feel really stupid  Honestly- there's no difference when I use them enough that I can't even tell it IS the volume. Maybe there is an issue with my guitar??? Sorry, I'll try to refrain from asking basic things here again. Thanks!

Is the guitar brand new? I assume you are plugged into some kind of amp? If you can't turn either of the controls all the way in either direction and hear a difference, then there is something wrong with the guitar or ??????? If you truly are a newbie (and I mean new to electric guitars, I did check your blog before my first response), you really do need to read the owner's manual on how the guitar operates and what the controls do.

Your guitar features a greasebucket circuit which rolls off the highs without adding bass and keeps your tone from getting more bassy as you roll off volume.

Blue, yes I did read the manual and yes I do use an amp, so I will crank the bad boy up and make sure it is working properly, because right now I truly do not hear any type of change. Thanks for the info!

And Chrome thanks for the circuit info!

Volume control: Turned one way = LOUD! Turned the other way = silence.

Tone control: Turned one way = Trebly. Turned the other way = Bassy.

The pickup selector chooses the neck pickup, bridge pickup, or both depending on where the switch is set. Try each one as you operate the controls.

Using a 4-way selector makes the neck pickup sound fatter. :)

:?: :?: :?:

The AM Special only has a three-way switch according to the Fender website.
