OK, I got my new US Deluxe Strat in Sunburst a few weeks back and I love everything about it. Sadly my Candy Cola American Standard Tele looks a bit of a plain Jane next to it. So..... I get myself a very nice used American Standard Ash body in Sunburst and a few hours sweating later I have a fine 'matching' pair.

Does this now make the Tele a partscaster? I have no plans on selling either of them, but what is the feeling on this kind of major modification?

I don't think there's a hard and fast rule for what is or is not a partscaster. I'd say its if you change the body or neck. But if you're going to keep it, then who cares what anyone else thinks?

I agree with Tochai. Once the body and neck are separated, its a partcaster. Keep them together and its just "modified".

When it doesn't say Fender on the Neck anymore, its a partscaster.

Jeez you can put a Tele together from bits & pieces from all over the world , put a nock off Fender decal on it and it becomes legitimate ?
