I am looking to purchase either a 62 reissue tele, 60's tele, or a 50's tele and customize it. I am looking to purchase Joe Barden pickups and place them in the guitar. Also, I am looking to put double binding on it and also change the pick guard and color. I hvae looked at the Fender custom site but I find nowhere to build my own guitar. In the section on the website title Build your own, I cant physically build it and see what it would look like or cost me. If anyone has any input please reply.

Thanks
James

i really hope you mean a current model and modify it..... please please dont tear apart a 60s tele..that would be retarded... you can buy about ANYTHING you want from WARMOTH and in general, the bodies are same or better than what you would get from fender USA... (SORRY BUT IM GONNA SAY IT).... just build it... dont tear anything apart unless is a newer mexi tele... it will cost you double to refinish and bind a bondy as it would to just buy one and do what you want to it... there are plenty of good bodies on warmoth, or WD guitars.. i hope that helps... and you can get WHAT EVER neck you want.... i am working on the design of a thinline with binding and the same neck thats on my 99 usa tele... but cant decide on mahogany, or ash stained or natural for the guitar...pick up selection and the 2 thinline pick guard styles are still up in the air....build it.... you can build a pheonominal one for 800-1000 start to finish.. hope that helps. or about what you would get from an aperican standard for 500-700

Thank you I will check Warmoth out and see what I can find. The price isnt bad from starting from scratch and building your own. I reviewed my decision and to tear apart a beautiful vintage tele would be stupid and idiotic. They are too nice to destroy. I was also wondering if the Fender Custom Shop would build me a guitar and if so how much do they run??

Scroll down to the Telecaster picture, click on it, that should give you a fairly accurate idea of what it'll look like.
