I debated about putting this up above, but there's a lot of thread drift there.

Short version
If you're anywhere near the area it's worth the drive.

Longer version
Got sent out to work on two of my company's facilities in San Diego and Long Beach, and then they threw a trip to L.A. in on top of it. So Friday as I headed south I figured I had busted my back enough and I needed a small diversion. And yeah, I-5 down to San Diego sucks. Take I-15 instead.

When you turn on to Cessna, take the first immediate right. Then take the next immediate right again. I didn't and had to rummage around the parking lot for a bit to get back up there. That big building on the right when you get on to Cessna is the Visitor's Center.

When you first walk in, there's a counter and that's where you sign up for the factory tours. Sadly, I was screwed over for time and I just couldn't do it with my flight scheduling. Looks like they require safety glasses for the tour, nothing wrong with that and they have a stack of them there. They looked to be in good shape but me, I'm fussy and I would bring a new, clean and clear set.

Right off this entry way is a hallway with displays on either side. Great history. Did I mention, bring your camera?

Once you walk into the main room, I'll guarantee you will be impressed.

It. Is. Not. A. Small. Museum.

There are guitars and displays all over the walls. Lotsa gear, amps etc., in the middle of the room. Plenty of walking around room. Video displays all about and non-stop music from overhead.

When walking through the entrance hallway, if you go straight ahead there's an accessories and souvenir shop. Also a section on books. Didn't get to spend that much time to shop.

Oh yeah, bring your guitar picks. Next room on that wall is a demo room, with amps and guitars set up. It's soundproofed, so you can take it to 11. This is not just a small shelf of maybe a 15R, a 212 and maybe a tweed, there's multiple amps and guitars.

Next room over is a build-your-own demonstration room with necks, bodies, pre-wired pickguards, etc.

And next one, a looping video mini-theatre.

Over on the other side is another large room with a lot of acoustics and other guitars and gear in it.

An indicator one of my contract inspectors always looks at, the bathrooms were very clean. (grin)

Of course I was cued it to look for Tele's. They are there but overwhelmed by the Strats. It's all good though, there is a massive amount of shiny eye candy.

Plan on at least an hour for the museum part. More of course for the factory tour.

I did some quick drive-by snapshots with my cell. They're available here:
