Hello, I recently purchased an American Standard Telecaster. Yes, I love it. So I have this project for an all analog pedal board consisting of 3 pedals. Overdrive, Compression and Delay.

I was wondering if any long time Tele players could give me some advice on a great analog delay pedal that will not kill the wonderful tone of the guitar? I've looked into a few and I have some favs! But, I'm new and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Shucky

I'm using a Way Huge Aqua $@!&. Only pedal I consider leaving on all the time. Besides that you've got to love the name.

I really like the Line6 Delay. It has many options as well as analog and tape.

For old school, love my original 1983 Ibanez AD9 analog delay. Only 300ms of delay, but perfect for slapback.

New digital - the Strymon El Capistan is the one to beat. Strymon is ex-Line 6 guys who learned DSP and now building amazing pedals.

It's a personal preference; I tried the Carbon Copy but couldn't get my delays out of it. Others love the Boss DD3. I have the DD6 for longer delays but will probably replace with the TC Electronic Flashback.

I play teles and use an Analog Man ARDX20 with the Amazeo Controller box. I love that setup. Two delay channels, warm and rich, and the controller gives me tap tempo and the ability to preset up to nine delays.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Keeley Modded AD-9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOX_ArCkw18... the self modulation feedback is really cool, and the upgraded chips sound spectacular for slapback... however, you are going to need a digital delay if you need longer delays, its always nice to have two delays anyways so you dont have to go around fumbling with presets and knobs during practice or on stage..

Love the Carbon Copy by MXR. Very smooth sound and, like all Dunlop pedals, it's built like a tank. Can't go wrong with that one...

Agree on the Carbon Copy, it is a great delay. You could also check out the Malekko 616 or the lo-fi 616. Both analog and both $150, same price as the MXR CC.

After alot more research, I went ahead and bought the Carbon Copy. Wow, great pedal, very transparent and nice long delays. Not a tone killer like some of the others out there. Thanks again!!

For a good mix of reliability, performance and affordability I'd look into Electro Harmonix. They have some great low priced analogue delays from The Memory Toy and up. Give them a listen at : http://www.electroharmonix.com/ and you can get demos of most of their gear.
