Third one was the charm I guess. Found a Blizzard Pearl in Natick that's pretty damn sweet. John.bohn's picture won me over on the color and I was sick of waiting for a sunburst to come in. Overall fit and finish is pretty good. Wiring is solid with quality pots and wire. I found a few tiny imperfections in the paint but nothing worth complaining about. Factory set-up is another issue, As I've mentioned this is the third I've tried and the first that didn't buzz horribly. I'll probably get the nut looked at to lower a few strings as well. Also I can't quite sort out the intonation with the 3 saddle bridge. I'd rather not go to a 6 saddle bridge and was thinking of this to keep it as close to stock as possible.

Anyone ever used this type of bridge?

Thanks for the input guys

Congrats. Glad you finally found a Special Player Tele that passed your buying test.

I really like the looks of Blizzard Pearl. It's cool to have an MIM Tele with a finish that's usually on American Standards. I wasn't feeling the brown pick guard at first but it has grown on me.

I have heard good things about Wilkinson compensated saddles but I have never used them on any of my vintage style Teles. Stock works for me.

I bought a sumburst model and had to return it to GC in Pueblo Colo, because it had issues with intonation. They luckily had another sunburst and it sees to be fine.

FYI I called Fender and found out the official name of this tele is
Modern Player with Mid Boost They are a FSR series only sold by GC

I have owned 5 tele's and this is by far th best feel and sound of them all

What if any opinion on changing vint tuners to american standard?

I bought the Blizzard pearl tele with the Tort. pick guard like the one pictured earlier. I love the tone it gets. The 9V battery is getting annoying cause they're always dying. Maybe I'm buying bad ones haha. but I love the tone it gets. I got it at GC as well and like people say, the intonation was way off. I asked the employees to fix it before I bought it but they didn't, so I got the other guitar player in my band to help me. I was wondering also more about it because I tried finding info on it but couldn't. Still an awesome guitar IMO. Might switch out the 3 saddle bridge for a 6 saddle but not sure yet.

I have the same guitar as yours, and the first one I bought at GC in Pueblo Colorado, had a major intonation problem, I ended up taking it back and got another that is perfect. I have owned and gigged with 5 different MiM tele's over the last 15 years and this is by far the nicest to play. I did replace the tuning keys with the standard MIM type and love this guitar. The three saddle bridge is what makes the great Tele sound, and I am leaving it alone.
