I was reading in PG about the 1950 Fender Broadcaster (and it looks great too!)

Interesting to read that around mid February of '51, Gretsch contacted Fender
to point out that the guitar's name was very similiar to to their Broadkaster Drum
set.

"Gretsch requested "immediate assurance" that Fender would abandon the name.
Fender complied, and the guitar continued to be produced without a name until
that September when "Telecaster" started appearing on the decal. The Telecaster
name continues to be used on the Broadcaster's contemporary descendents."

Another interesting note was that the Broadcaster had a pickup blend control
instead of the tone control found on modern Teles. The Broadcaster's bridge pup
was designed to deliver the clear, bright tone of Fender's lap steel guitars.

Interesting. There's one on eBay for $250,000. It's nice and all, but not $250,000 nice. I'd rather have a new house, than a guitar worth a new house. I think he wants so much because it's got the serial number of "#0022" and it was used in a TV series. (one I've never heard of)

Did you see some of Norm's other auctions? He goes for the gusto, so to speak!

I'd be afraid to play a $250,000 guitar. I'd rather have a $500 guitar that I could play and not worry about losing $100,000 if I put a nick in it.
