I have a Fender FSR Tele, and I love my twang setting, but seeing as I play a lot of emo/experimental, progressive, and pop punk, I'm looking to have a little bit more range, as my neck pickup setting sounds muddy and boring to me. I'm looking for something to fill out the sound when it's time to bring the heat. Thanks!

I replaced my Tele pickups with dimarzios. The neck pickup I put in is a dimarzio area t and does not dpund muddy and is clean even when overdrive is used and the bridge pickup I have is dimarzio pre 1 and is very hot and loud. Go to dimarzio website as there are various pickups on there with good reviews.
I must add that I still retain the Tele sound.

Try out a Baja Tele, go through the switch and see if you like the sounds. I personally can't recommend the out of phase sounds on the guitar, they have too much treble and are too thin for my ears. But the Neck/Bridge in series position is a divine setting. Full of thickness.
If you like it, buy a 4-way switch. Then it's just a simple soldering job. Should take around 5 minutes. You won't have to spend a fortune on pickups and will retain all the classic Tele sounds too.
Though the Twisted Tele neck pickup on the Baja is a work of art.

A couple of suggestions...remove the cover off the neck pick up, but be careful not to hit the coil wires where they run through the coil form, if you break those the pickup is cooked. Removing the cover can open up the pick up and give it some more strength IMO.

If you up to changing the pickup, then try a Fralin, they have some real honk to them.

FWIW

Maybe take a look at a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails or Quater Pounder pickup. Probably more appropriate for the type of music you described. Both selections will fit the single coil rout.

The Q-Pounder is a true singlecoil, but the Hot Rails is a humbucker. Good luck!

I would suggest a twisted Tele pickup which are now available on Ebay and do make sure you dont overpay for it .I think the guy I got mine from charged 37USD .I would as others have said definitely put a four way switch in .I had a Baja (too heavy for me ) so know the combo of a twisted Tele and a 4 way is fine way of upgrading any tele.I now have the same combo in my parts caster .There are of course dozens of pickups ,Rose pickups do a fatter tele neck picup at a decent price but I havnt tried them .(yet)

An alternative solution is throw in a full-sized ceramic humbucker with metal covers and install either a super 5-way selector or the S-1 switching system to split it.

{Guitar is not mine).
