I'm kind of curious as to why there's not much, if any, discussion about these guitars? I just got one from a local GC and it's one of the finest playing and sounding teles I have ever had. I realize it's just a 52RI neck, so it's got to be the combination of the body wood and pickups that Fender used in making the guitar. The bridge pu is bright and powerful without being ice-picky, the neck is as warm as you could want, almost like a strat neck pu. And the middle position is great for that swampy, funky tone.

Anybody else have one of these beauties???

I got one a couple weeks ago, and it's my first Tele. I went into GC with no preference about which model or flavor Tele to get. I just wanted to test them all out to see if I liked one better than the others, and the Old Pine kept calling me back to play her again.

So far it's been a beautiful relationship. My other guitars are more than a little jealous, but I can't help picking this one up first every time!

I love this guitar. Its not my first fender, or my first tele... But it is my favorite. The minute I picked it up to play it, it was mine. The tone and feel are amazing, I love the finish too. And the pickups are some up the best tele pick ups I've played. But it's not with out it's issues. I love the pine, it's not always thought of right away as a tone wood but trust me this tele sounds great. But pine is a soft wood, and it won't take much to ding up this guitar. I mean softer than you might think. So you might want to be extra carefull, I knew this going into the deal but have still let it slip my mind and put a scar or three on the sides. The finish is also pretty thin. Aesthetically it looks so good, you can see the wood grain through the white wash oil stain. And if you play on the mellower side you may never have an issue. But I take this guitar on tour with me, and it's one of two that i play every night. Also, I sweat quite a bit when i play so even though I've only owned this guitar for 8 months I've already worn through a little of the finish where my forearm hits the body of the guitar. If I'd know this when I bought it I'd still get it in a heartbeat, but I know that this guitar will age faster than any of my other guitars. Hope this helps. Cheers!
