Anyone have any tips on how to make a single ply 5-hole pickguard sit tightly against the body of a Tele without harming the finish? Mine is raised a bit....see pictures below:

check and see if that neck pup is seated right ...if that isn't the problem you might have to file an edge of the pick guard ...wherever it's hitched at ...but it looks to me like the pup isn't sitting in it's cavity correctly!

+1 the pickup does look like it is causing the bow, but if it is not, they a replacement is about the only way I know. If it is warped then there is no way to straighten it, unless someone else has come up with a way to unwarp it?

Thanks for the replies guys. When I first put the guard on, it sat pretty close to the body. It was a tight fit around the neck joint, so maybe that is what is causing it. The neck pickup didn't seem to be an issue upon initial installation, but I'll double check that as well.
I really appreciate your feedback. I'll let you know how I make out.

If the guard is warped, try putting it on a piece of glass and into the microwave. Monitor it very closely, take out when you see it start to flatten. I did that with the plastic "bell" truss rod cover off a Gibson and it flattened out nicely. Just don't let your wife see you doing this.

In the photos it looks like the neck is interfering with the pick guard. You may have to file the pickgard where it fits around the heel of the neck.

Bender,
You are correct. I removed the pick guard and it is the top side of the neck that is the issue. The pick guard needs to be filed down a bit because it is pressing up against the neck which is causing the 'bubble'. The guard is not warped in any way.

What is the best way to file down the guard? Do you use a razor blade (and a steady hand)? Sandpaper?

Thanks!

ES11, I would use a small smooth file for the portion that fits up against the back of the neck and you may need a small round file for the corners. Depending on your skills with hand files and the available tools it should be a simple job to remove the guard and give it a little relief where it fits around the neck.
