Hey all,

Just got my 60th ann. telecaster back from a tech in town here to find several chips in the finish along the bottom of the body. Now I know for a fact I didn't put them there, and the tech insists it wasn't his doing. Regardless, the store has graciously agreed to fix it, so I'm just posting here for my own curiousity.

It seems like it would have taken quite a rattle to chip the finish, but the wood isn't deformed or disfigured at all. I had heard rumors of Fender having to change paint companies and having some issues. Is there any chance there is a defect in the finish, or did it simply get dinged somewhere between me dropping it off and picking it up from the store? (Attached some camera phone snaps for clarity - so to speak).

Thanks,
Ryan

Those dents, nicks, scratches, etc. are "character" marks. All my guitars have them. As long as it doesn't affect playability. The newer Telecasters have a thinner finish, which is easier to ding up. But I believe the guitar sounds better than the poly finish, which is more robust.

"Character marks" are all well and good, when they're done by me. Time to start setting up my own guitars, methinks!

I would be mad too if I got my guitar back like that.It adds no character if a tech does it!!
