So...while I realize this is likely too good to be true. I just responded to a CL listing for an "early 70's guitar" ... it's a Custom Telecaster...in an original case and they were asking $300 for it. It also showed pictures of original paperwork and a sales receipt.

If they call back, and I'm not robbed and/or beaten to death out in the boonies when I go to pick it up, I'll be sure to keep you all posted!

Last week there was an ad in our local penny saver for a '67 Ferrari 365GTS, rear end damage, $9,500. I called because I couldn't not call. An old guy answered and said, "I don't know who put that ad in there, but I don't have no Ferrari." I think people do that just to give themselves a chuckle. Good luck though.

Yeah... you'd probably kick yourself in the @$% if you didn't call and then saw your neighbor driving it around bragging what a great deal he got on a Ferrari he found on CL...

It's a long shot but it kind of gets the heart racing... WHAT IF???

My local Craigslist is a bit different. We have people looking to sell there $150 Squires for $450.

Oh we get that too... The one that kills me is the POS Organ that's been posted for $700 for months... with the the description Wanna sell it!!! I bet they do... to buy more meth. The same organs are usually listed in the free section with an "Oh my god, get this 400 pound piece of crap out of my life"

But yeah, I'm always shocked to see the old MIM standards with an asking price of higher than the original purchase price... sometimes as much as a new one. And of course, the Squires listed as Fender's, etc.

If nothing else, it's entertaining.

Hey JamGuy,
Well, if you like the price of those MIM's, then you'll love this:

Is that a 300% mark-up??? I believe so....

well, no surprise... the dream's over. Got some cryptic message about it being long gone. My email address has probably been forwarded to a number of porn sites but hell, what a ride! :)

Your right there are guitar and amps out of the correct pricing. I have built several telecaster style guitars and sold them on craigslist. I have not made a dime on any of them just the parts cost. I am semi retired. There good guitars I now have several complete and will list soon. I am trying to get one complete 52 style nearly complete. I did get a new 2011 Nashville B bender USA telecaster. I am not going to build any more guitars for some time. I cannot get mine as perfect as the USA factory does. I do not know how they do it but checking the notes are all in tune with my bender. My builds are good sounding I buy a good neck but there not near as perfect as a USA tele at every fret. I did see a nice fender acousasonic 30 amp dsp model for 125.00 on craigslist. It is very nice. I play my band tracks through it. Mustang 4 amp for the bender. Lots of fun. Regards Horton

Most of the time it is full of crazies though... and it can be difficult to sell anything.

Agreed. Found a vintage Esquire in very good condition on craigslist.
