I have a Fender '72 Thinline Telcaster. One of the features of this guitar is micro-tilt adjustment for the neck (located at the rear plate of the neck). The manual that I received with the guitar has no mention of the purpose of the micro-tilt, how it should be set, or the specs that it should be set to.

Is anyone familiar with the micro-tilt neck adjustment, what is the purpose for adjustment, and what it should be set to?

Thanks

The Micro-tilt adjusts the "angle" of the neck. My suggestion is dont mess w/ it.
Great guitar though, I love mine :D

I love my '72 Thinline too. so much awesome. Its just the perfect combination of all the things I want in a guitar.

Never notice the adjustment before, though. I agree that if you dont know what it does, chances are you should leave it be.

Thanks to markenbach and joefaity for the responses.

Yeah, I agree....until I know how to adjust the micro-tilt, I'm just going to leave it alone. I'm sure it was set at the factory, and I don't want to take the chance of messing it up, unless I know what I'm doing, and what for.

I agree with you. Great Guitar. I love it's deep rich tone, and so do most that hear it being played. Next to my American Deluxe Strat.....it's my favorite guitar.

My impression (correct me if I'm wrong) is that the Micro-Tilt system does an adjustment to the base of the neck, similar to putting a shim there, to adjust the action by changing the angle of the neck. I've never had to do that at all, everything in the neck pocket is perfectly flat. I have a couple of MIJ/CIJ '72 RI Thinlines, and the neck/body joint seems to be as good or better as any Fender I've had!

Thanks, twangee. I think I'm just going to leave it alone for now. I was just trying to get some information on the micro-tilt adjustment. I'm sure it's just fine with the factory setup.

I'll be heading to a guitar shop, where they do guitar repairs, setups, etc. I'll talk to one of the techs and he might be able to give me all the scoop.
