Hello everyone.

Back last November, I got this tele on Black Friday at the Guitar Center in Rockville, MD. Had been looking at other guitars months in advanced online and in person , but this caught my eye and fell in love with it.

I've been trying to research and find it online and have been unable to do so for almost a year. I hope someone reading this would be able to give some insight into the model/series of this guitar.

Thanks for reading.

I have always had luck contacting Fender directly with these sort of questions. It's hard to read the sticker on the back of the headstock, but it very well could be a special edition that was only sold at GC. While this isn't uncommon, there's also a chance that the guitar has been altered (did you buy it new?).

I would suggest trying Fender at this email address: consumerrelations@fender.com

Very nice

just from the looks of it, it looks like a 72 reissue. But, to get one in white, normally I think you have to get a road worn. This may be a short run or something like that, that came in white, I know fender do them sometimes.

I was just a little thrown by the tuners and the Fender logo. They don't seem to match the 72, but if it was used the tuners could easily have been swapped out.

Nice guitar. It is an FSR run that I thought was done for Guitar Center/Musician's Friend but I have seen it on other dealers' websites; you can see the "Fender Special" decal next to the serial number on the back of the headstock.

The bottom line is that it has the body/pickups/etc. from the MIM '72 Tele Deluxe reissue but the neck specs of an MIM Standard Tele (modern radius, modern tuners, modern truss rod access at the headstock). I've not seen one in person, but it looks like it has the tinted finish you would find on say the MIM Roadhouse or MIM Lone Star Strats. I'm remembering these being in the white the OP has, candy red, and metallic surf green.

Sending the serial number to Fender should verify this.

John C nailed it. It's a special run. I bought a Candy Apple red FSR '72 Deluxe at Guitar Center in December 2010. I liked everything about it but I wished it had vintage tuners. I sold it to a friend so I could buy an American Deluxe. It was one good looking Tele.
