Check out a Highway One. They have Hot alnico III pups and you should like 'em.

You can make a single coil sound like a humbucker but not the other way around.

um? are you talking about running two single coils at the same time using the three-way switch? if so, that's not what i'm talking about. i'm talking about a coil splitter.

what he saying is coil splitting a humbucker does not sound like a traditional single coil from a tele or strat ....and ...he's right!

hey Grampa, no matter how you slice it, if you really wanna get into tele land with single coils it's gonna be a lot different feel and attack than what you've been used to ...it will take some getting used to ...if you go with humbucker teles than you're kinda just getting what you already have with a new neck and body style .....that spalted maple tele is absolutely gorgeous but is pretty much meant to rock like a beast ....granted, the coil splits prolly sound very nice but would be something off the beaten path of a standard tele thing.

if i was you, i would embrace a change ...grab a hwy 1 tele and start getting into the richness of single coil ...there's less gain but more nuance and sutlety....then your guitars will be distinct from one another and each will have it's own purpose.

don't get me wrong i enjoy humbuckers too...i have 3 les pauls .....but i play my teles because they are teles!
