All I can seem to find is a tock squire, but it's a 69. Does this look like what you saw?

Upon further looking into this I believe they originally made a black 72 thinline. Was the person you saw playing it the guy from Coldplay? I think he has a black one that's vintage...
There's also the one with single coils, they come stock from fender.

You could also look into buying a 72 thinline, and have warmoth.com paint it. or you could just buy a painted body from them.
You could buy a 69 thinline with single coils here also http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=510123

I have the natural finish '72 thinline. I remember that they didn't have much of a color selection when I ordered it. That's ok......natural was my preference. Also.....I couldn't get it with a rosewood fretboard, so I had to settle for the maple one.

As stated above, Black was avaliable on the original, but not on the RI unfortunately.

I dig my natural finish, but I'm not sure why they limited the RI to only two finishes, other than the limited run colors (surf green, candy apple red, sonic blue, lake placid blue, and shell pink).
