Hey new to the forums and Looking at an ad on craigslist, slightly experienced buyer and someones selling an american telecaster 1993 (serial number N3935968) and a Gibson firebrand 335S, $400 each, seems a bit cheap to me..... anyones opinion? Is it possible to tell more about the tele from the serial? Thanks in advance!

The serial number to a degree confirms it as a 1993 (N=1990's 3=1993) thats about all you can tell fromt he serial number. if you e-mail Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com they will give you the info you need about the guitar.

I've never seen a fake Gibson or Fender without a legitimate serial number. Why would someone in China not use a legitimate serial number? They are shrewd business people and not idiots. They spend tens of thousands in research, design, machine tooling, materials, etc. but would not bother to spend 2 minutes researching the serial number?

These are not country bumpkins who make these fakes.
