Sorry if this has been done before...but...I saw the MIM Strat owners club post in the Strat forum so I thought I'd start one here for the proud MIM Tele Owners.

Post pictures and a little info/history of your guitar. What's the reasoning behing going with an MIM?

I'll start...

A little history. My Tele is an '09 Deluxe Blackout Tele. I bought it 'used' in 2010 for $400. It had clearly been used only a few times, or never at all. It still had the plastic on the pickguard and had no signs of wear whatsoever. It has replaced basically all of my electric guitars, and makes me want another Tele. Maybe even another MIM.
When I bought this guitar I was planning to buy a HWY1 Strat, but the Tele caught my eye, and after about 30 minutes of jamming it came home with me.

Just hanging out...

Image

Close up of vinyl flames...I put these on like 2 days after I bought the guitar...

Image

In its newly 'stripped' state...also reversed the control plate.

Here are my Mexican Tele's.
Image
(left to right 2002 Standard, Blacktop, Deluxe Blackout, 2011 Standard)

My first mexcian was the Blacktop. I am a Raiders fan so a silver and black Tele was a must and no prizes for guessing it it is called "RAIDER", the humbuckers are an excellent slant on the Tele. The Deluxe Blackout was next, I had gone to my local store to review the (in transit) damage on a 60th Anniversary Tele I had ordered. I decided to wait for an un damaged 60th so I decided to have a look around the shop and came across the Blackout. I had not seen or read much about them before but once I tried it....well you can guess the rest. Most of my guitars are kept in cases but I wanted the Tele and Strat to live on the wall for easy access so I ordered a Tele in Midnight Wine. The final one is a 2002 standard Tele in rare Gun Metal Blue and was an impulse buy because of the colour and is in immaculate condition given its nearly 10 years old.

Nice collection of MIMs! And as a Raiders fan myself, I like the silver/black motif on the Blacktop.

I have three MIM Tele's, I love them all. I've posted pix of them on various other threads, they're great looking guitars. A 72 Thinline, a Baja, and a standard from 93 in CAR. They can hold their own with my US and Japaneese Tele's 8)

This is my MIM Classic Series 60s Tele

I took delivery of this in the first week of this year, no signs of wear or use, still had the selophane on the pick-guard, strange that the tone changed considerably when it took that off, so next guitar I get I'll be taking the plastic off as soon as possible so I get the real sound of the guitar. It has a 4 way swith on which I'm assuming was a mistake in manufacture that does something like the S1 switch when in the 4th position. It was made in September 2007. It is by far the best guitar I have ever owned.

Yes Tim Candy Apple Red, I had to borrow my dad's camera to photograph it because my own camera doesn't do red very well.

very proud of it! i own a 2011 candy apple red telecaster. at first i hated the look of telecasters, then after months of watching videos of eddie vedder play his telecaster, i thought i had to get one. he's just look's so worn and DIYish. and at that stage i was really into humbuckers, an i thought if i could get distortion like a humbucker and a clean tone like a telecaster that'd be kickass. then i saw the blacktop. possibly bets guitar out there IMO, sriously guys if you haven't pick one up.

Thanks Tim. I love that ash Tele also. I actually play that one more than my American Standard! It is a lot of guitar for the money. I think I paid about $350 for it new in 2008.

Radio - thanks for the compliments. I love the Strummer too. If only it came with a maple neck though. I thought about buying another one and putting a 50's Road Worn maple neck on it. I'm still thinking about it....we'll see.
