Our band is flying to Cleveland in October; looking to upgrade from standard Fender cases.

Anyone have a preference or experience with either the Gator TSA or the SKB TSA cases? Are they tough enough to be checked in? With 3 guitars, 1 bass and 1 keyboard, can't chance being able to hand carry any of it.

If there's something better than these, let me know. My custom Tele was hand built for me 16 years ago and I'd lose it if it were damaged, but it's key to my sound.

thanks. If people also have thoughts on shipping pedalboards (mine's in a case, non ATA) that would be helpful as well as we'll have 2 to ship.

Hows many people are in the band? An airline allows each person to carry a bag that fits into the overhead and a back under the seat. I fly to houston several times a year and i usually take my acoustic seagull (not an expensive guitar so you may not want my advice) I have talked to a few friends and people at my local guitar shop and what many people say is a thick super padded soft case is better then a hard case because its easier to get into the overhead, fits better, and people will usually never put things on top of it out of fear of hurting it (if someone sees a heavy plastic guitar case they may think its ok to put their heavy bag on it).
