Hey all, I just wanted to get some feeling from you that are in the know.

I am about to purchase my first ever Tele, I am leaning toward a 2011 Deluxe.

Really liking the Aged Cherry Sunburst with a rosewood neck.

What do you think of this model ?

If you have any other that you would recommend, I am all ears.

Cheers

That would be a good choice, but guitars are very subjective creatures, so what it always comes down to is whatever suits YOU the best. I have an MIM Standard Tele that I chose over a MIA Highway 1 model that I had gone to the music store to look at in the first place. The Highway 1 series is being discontinued by Fender, so they're getting hard to find, as stocks are running out. But I chose the MIM because it felt so much better when I played it and sounded just about as good, to me, as the Highway 1 did. It wasn't strictly price, as I had the bucks to buy the more expensive Highway 1, but the MIM just felt like a part of my hand when I played it and that's the most important thing there is.

Just choose the one that suits you the best. Good luck!!

Well, it would be hard to link my source, Mike, as I got it word-of-mouth from two local dealers. Both told me that once they sell all of them, they won't be getting any more in stock. Both told me that the Highway 1 series was no longer in production by Fender. If you can find one, better grab it!!

Stratfreak51 is right and it may be the guitar that chooses you. If you are able to play some different models right from the MIM standards to the AM Standards you may find say a blacktop or a AM special that feels like it was made for you.

The AM Deluxe guitars are very good my first proper Fender was the same guitar you are looking at Aged Cherry Burst but with a maple neck.

good hunting and which ever one you choose let us all have a look see.

If you like the feel/playability of the specific AM Dlx. you play, I don't think you can go wrong. The Deluxes are very nice IMHO. Good Luck.

I wanted a American deluxe series Tele, but I played my 2007 American Series Tele at the time and it won me over, the neck on deluxe didn't feel as nice. Now though I do want a American Deluxe because I feel it's time for change and it was my second string choice, shame on me lol Congrats on your buy :D

G'day again everybody.

Thanks for your input and yes I will post lots of good pic's when I pick her up.

I had a change of heart with the finish because after thinking on it for a while, I came to the conclusion that I have a lot of Gibsons/Fenders with Burst Finishes or showing wood grain. That is why I thought a nice solid colour of Olympic Pearl would be nice. What sured this up further was I had the chance to play one and the Pearl finish is just beautiful!!

The playability and sound of the Deluxe is Awesome!!

Thanks again all.

Olympic pearl is a very nice finish. And like I said earlier, I don't think you can go wrong with a deluxe. Congrats!

Ok found out today I have an issue with my purchase.

My GC have notified me stating that Fender even after 1 week into my order are still advising my GC of no ETA for delivery of my Deluxe Tele

What is up with this Fender?

Cheers.

A lot of guitars are back ordered. I know it previously was an issue Fender was having with a paint supplier, don't know if that's still the reason, but it could still be jammed up because of that issue. Maybe if you're not dead set on the olympic pearl you can find out what finishes they actually have in stock and order up one of those.
