I know it's not a Fender amp, but I just picked up a used one to run my Tele through. I got an amazing deal, I returned my HRDX III that was 2 days from it's 30 day return. Could not pass it up. Will post pics later. I feel like an 8 year old that just discovered his first boner. 699.00 for the Mesa, and including all accessories, and the original receipt and manual.

That does seem like a very good bargain.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Perfect time to return the HRD. Once it hit 30 days, something is bound to break in a Hot Rod amp.

Now, that I've had a chance to dig into this thing, and play through it, I could not disagree more. There's not one single blemish on this thing. And it sounds fantastic. So many tone combinations. True independent tone controls for each channel. Reverb level controls for each channel. 5 Different voicings. Mix Level control for FX Loop. FX Loop path is tube driven. Reverb path is tube driven. Baltic Birch cabinetry. HRDX doesn't even come close.

And the HRDX was starting to get funky on the power section. That, and the fact that I would have to completely mod the PCB to get the tone I wanted, made the decision easy.

I really like the EL34/6L6 Bias switch. Can run either set. I think I will be putting a bias adjustment in though. Really could not be happier.

Great amp - I remember playing one in the Mesa Store in Hollywood and being impressed by the clean, crunch and solo. Congrats and this is miles beyond a HRD.

Bias adjustment - I believe the Rectoverb like other Mesa amps is self-biasing, so besides flipping the switch for the right tubes, is this needed?

That is correct. No bias adjustment. Just a switch for the right tubes. You can add a bias adjustment. It sounds great without an adjustment, so I think I might just leave that alone. It really does sing. Don't even use my OCD much anymore. Channel 2 is strong. Sooo many overdriven tones available. The Clean and Pushed voicing on Channel 1 is really nice. The reverb really sounds nice at any level.

Wow...That's used?! I guess 'used' is figurative in this case; looks brand new to me. I've never been a fan of Mesa across the board, but they do have a few various amps I really like. Nice to hear you made a good swap, and are happy with the new amp.
