I just purchased a new Tele American Standard. The serian number starts wuth US. When i go to any serial number finder site to see the exact manufacture date they say that they do not recognize the number. The Fender site does not list the US start on the serials either. Is there a site out there that can tell me the manufacture date?

Hi arena man

Fender started using the US prefix on there american made guitars in 2010 around May time once they had used up the ZXXXXXXXX necks.

The 2 numbers after the US in your serial number will denote the year of manufacture. Yours should be US11XXXXXX or something similar if the neck is a 2010 one it would read US10XXXXXX. (I have a 2011 Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Tele, only launched in 2011 but it has a 2010 neck and serial number US10XXXXXX).

Hope this helps

ukraider,
I am a big strat fan but the tele is taking over first place. Both models are American Standards. I purchased this model because i was very impressed with the quality. The tele feels differant in a good way. I used to think the tele was plain looking until i opened my eyes. The tele is i belive the most beautiful guitar availible.

Just wanted to thank you for taking up this subject,

Started sweating a bit, after buying a supposedly "60th anniversary" (tobacco sunburst) off a pretty dodgy guy. When I couldn't find the US10xxxxxx, I started getting really scared that it could've been tampered with. On top of that, all dealers and articles only seemed to be promoting the blonde version.

Still not too sure what sets it apart from a regular American Standard ('cept the "60th anniversary" plate on the back), so should anybody be in the mood to enlighten me - please do.

Anyways, thank you :)

Aren't they putting the "60th Anniversary" plate on all USA non-reissue Teles this year? At least that is what they did with Strats back in 2004 - put the "50th Anniversary of the Strat" plate on all American Series and American Deluxes made that year.

Not unusual to find the "US10" serial number decals on guitars made during the first part of 2011.

Hi John,

Thanks for taking your time to comment. It makes sense - allthough, a bit dissapointed. Suppose I would have preferred it if it was just a "little special". A production year, and a plate on the back really isn't all that special

Hi Doolittle79

All, well most of the Telecasters made in 2011 should have the 60th Anniversary neck plate, I have a Mexican Tele in midnight wine with the 60th plate on it and a 60th Anniversary edition with the same 60th plate and a serial number that starts US10.

The Graham Coxon signature model just released for the European market only has a plain neck plate.

So far there are 5 special editions for 2011 the Limited Edition Blackguard Blonde 60th Tele, the Flame Top Tele, The Modern Thinline Tele, The Old Growth Redwood Tele (has a special Old Growth Redwood neck plate) and the The Old Pine Tele and there will be 8 other Telebration Tele's to come.

Hope this helps
