Hello,
If both the bridge and neck have the same wide range humbucker, should they both sound the same when played individually at the same guitar and amp setting?
If yes, what is the point of playing them individually?
Same question applies for Strats that have the same pick ups.
I am an acoustic player just trying to understand electric guitars before I buy.

Well you can see the answer for yourself if you play the guitar accoustically, pick the strings close to the bridge then pick the same strings close to the neck and you'll see that you get a different sound. The string vibrates or ossilates more loosley when you pick it near the neck compare to when you pick it close to the bridge and this is because the strings are restrained by the bridge and saddles.

You can do this same experiment with an accoustic guitar too and get the same results as you would with an electric guitar.

I'm sure others will be able to geive you a more detailed or technical description than myself, what I've given above is the short version. I hope some of that helps.

Also you could check out some guitar reviews on YouTube and hear people playin with the neck pickup then the bridge and visa versa and you'll hear the difference.
