I still have not resolved my Hwy One Tele pickup issue. I hope they are not waiting me out to just exchange the guitar. I've grown to fond of it to just switch it out. A tech would cost them to diagnose and fix the problem rather than just swap guitars. I guess it is time to step it up a notch or two with the manager of the store and or Fender.

On another note, I was reading "An open letter to Marshall" and am in agreement with pretty much what the guy was saying way back in fall of 2009 on doing the same thing with the Class 5, but bump it up to a made in England 50 watt amp that could be adjustable (down to 25, 12 watts etc.), yet plain enough like the old plexi. I would like a 1-12 or 2-12, my back says 1-12. For most clubs 50 should be enough, yet I have been in some where I was having to use quite a bit of the old 1974 100 Watt Marshall Lead Head to get through the stupid building acoustics and a drummer that would put "animal" to shame ;-]. The "open letter to Marshall" was on "Jeztone.com's" website. With all the crazy things that amp companies are doing, there are those of us who like a simple amp that kicks $@! and we can do the rest. That is what I like about my Fender champion 600. I amaze my friends with it's simplicity. It sounds great and it is basic. Less is more.

Oh well, write in and let me know what you would like for your Hwy One Tele, or for any fender product you have. I think that is why my next amp will be a Fender Blues Junior or Fender Blues Deville (4X10). Please put some more pics up or connections to you playing your Hwy One Tele.

I dropped my Hwy One Tele off at the Fender certified electronics repair shop in order to fix the popping and crackling I was getting out of the front pickup. Funny thing, I played it before I took it in and it did not pop or crackle. I have nothing but popping and crackling when I use the front pickup and the middle selector. When I use the rear pickup, I have no problem at all. I hope they can fix the issue.

I have a degree in electrical/electronics and would have looked at it, but I did not want to void my warranty. I believe it is a bad connection of some sort, something with the selector or pickup. If it weren’t the selector connection or the pickup connection, I would try rewaxing the pickup. If that did not help, I would chalk it up to faulty winding of the coil. Any who it is being looked at and I hope to have it back this week.

I found a Fender Blackface Bassman today; I cannot determine the year on it. The people who have claim it is a 1950, but Leo did not start the black face until the early 60's and besides it was not tweed. It is one of the old heads that screws to the cabinet. It absolutely rocked! I tried each input, switch and knob and not a single bit of noise. I am guessing it is mid to late 60's. I don't have my amp book where I live right now in order to try to decipher the year model. It is in good condition. I am scheming on how to try and get it. They want, and get this, $900 for it!!!!!!!!!! The problem is money is extremely tight, but I have to figure a way to get it! The last one I bought like this I paid a $100 bucks for and had an extra set of speakers come in with it! I was unloading gear and was offered over a grand 10 years ago, it was in good to excellent shape. Those days are gone. I've got to figure out how to get the amp before some buzzard grabs it up.

Well, the repair shop ordered a selector switch assembly and a neck pickup assembly for my Hwy1 Tele! I was not going crazy! Hopefully the parts will be in and installed by next Friday. I'm itching to get it back and jam on it.

The blackface 1965 Bassman (not a reissue, the real McCoy) is on the local sales floor. I want it, but cannot come up with the bread for it. It rocks so good! It is perfect for a small club! We will have to see what can be done about aquiring it before it gets gone! I dig it too much!!!

Please post Hwy1 Tele's on here you folks that have them and tell about your experiences with them. What gear you use with them. What sounds good to you! until next time.

Well, I am not sure how long it takes to wind a pickup. I used to wind coils for my mom's friend and we could do several hundred in a day(back in the late 70's early 80's). The electronic outfit that has my Hwy One Tele said both my neck pickup assembly was bad and the selectro switch. My understanding is the selector switch came in and now they are waiting on the Neck pickup assembly. Fender told them that it would be towards the end of the month!!!! Crap I could have ordered some Lindy Fralins for $60 bucks and had a better pcikup in weeks time! It was under warranty so....

My marshalls class 5's are doing great I've taken them out and gigged with them and the just rock really good without causing sterilization! I would like a little more juice when needed to step out but playing gigs by myself they have been fine. I've thought about using my Fender Champion 600 for some of my small gig stuff. It sounds amazing.

Oh well until next time.
keep it rubberside down.

Wow, interesting. My image for my profile shows up, and yet my links to my pics do not. I can cut and paste the link from the "Xs" into my browser URL and the picture comes up... I bet I probably put the link to the page rather than the picture. sorry folks.

Thanks Pinetreebob! If you get a chance post some pics of your blonde up! I have a blonde Hwy 1 Strat and I enjoy it tremendously!

I picked up a damaged Mexican Tele Standard from G.C. for next to nothing and have been having a ball with it. I did some repairs and am enjoying it tremendously. It does not have the tonal range as the Hwy 1 Tele but it feels great!

I have not seen my Hwy 1 Tele in about over a month now. I dropped it off at a Fender approved electronics shop for warranty work. The front pickup was popping and scratching when I played it. Broke my heart. The front pickup tone was why I bought the Hwy 1 Tele, and I got a good deal on it as well :-]

I may be losing my mind, but I went and put an Ibeenhad (Ibanez) TSA15H on layaway. I had been looking at lunch box amps and found this little guy to be the absolute bomb for the price. 5/15 watt switch, 2 12ax7 preamp tubes and 2 6v6 output tubes along with a built in tube screamer! Comes with a foot switch to boost and to turn the tube screamer off or on. The cabinet has a 1x12" Celestion 80 watt speaker, so when I buy some other lunch box amps, say a Orange Tiny Terror, Vox Night Train, or Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic I can be versatile with the cabinet. I can hook up higher wattage heads as long as I match the 8 ohms speaker.

I looked at the online stores, craigslist and some other sites and for brand new; no one could match what this guy told me he would do on price. So I put my money where my mouth was and put it on layaway. I can't wait to get it out. Yet I do have other tools to use in the meantime, but this will help me with my back to split up the cabinet with head. I don't know all who read this but if you have ever worked professionally hauling gear around can, is and will be a back breaker.

I am happy to be a part owner for now of this little amp. My first made in China amp. All others I own are made in England or USA. For the price and the quality of sound you just cannot beat it!

P.S. Still have not heard on my neck assembly parts for my Hwy 1 Tele. I am missing her and could have wound the pickups by hand by now!!!! It has been in the shop since August 24th. I can't wait to try her out on the new amp!

Does anybody know what size allen key is used to adjust the string action on the highway one teles? I've got a 2006 highway one tele but I can't find the allen key that came with it...

1.5 MM works best for the 2008 Hwy 1 Tele. I discuss this topic earlier in this forum (scroll down towards the bottom of the link: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=58132&start=15

I went to a local little hardware store and bought 3 of the smallest metric and 3 of the smallest standards and gently checked to see which one fit the best. Once I figured out which one it was I marked with a metallic silver sharpie (the wrenches are so small there are no markings of size on them). I think the wrenches cost me about 3 dollars and some change. Most of your local little hardware stores will sell the Allen wrenches individually. I hope this helps if no else replies. I will check back and see. I am like you, what wrenches came with mine did not fit on my Hwy1 Tele, Hwy1 Strat or my Mex-Tele Standard. My neck Allen wrench worked when I wanted to take some relief off of my neck on the Hwy1 Strat. It makes me wonder where the bridges are being manufactured...

P.S. For the whole 2 or 3 people who are still checking in :-], my Neck pickup assembly came in this week. I should get my Hwy 1 Tele out of the shop next week. Again, had it not been so new I would have just ordered a Lindy Fralin pickup and installed it myself.

No problem rosewoodguy! That is what I had hoped this forum would do, is help one another and enjoy our Hwy1 Tele's!

I just got mine back from the electronics shop after having popping and scratching noises going on with my front pickup assembly. The electronics shop replaced my toggle switch assembly and the Neck pickup assembly. Why I do not know they took it upon themselves to "Setup" my guitar for me. When following the Fender Manual you put a capo on the first fret and depress the last fret of the 6th String with your finger. Take a "feeler" gauge and measure at the 8th fret for .010 height. I had set it up before the problems started and set the intonation, which it sounded great. When I got it back the "electronics" shop had put relief in the neck raising my strings with the above method to .018!!!! Almost double the height! It took me awhile, but I now have it back in Fender spec range and it almost fell into place when resetting the intonation as well as string height per/Fender specs.

Anyway, I am glad to have her back new scratches, skin oil wear on the top from someone playing it and all! It is hard to remove the skin oil produced on the satin finish. Oh well. If someone knows how to remove the oil and keep the satin finish please post!

I have been enjoying my Hwy One Tele and have been thinking of giving her a tortoise shell pickguard makeover. :] I am not sure how it will look with the midnight wine and maple fret board. I did use the "guitar builder" and saw how the pickguard would look with a strat, not too bad.
Some may laugh about this next topic, because I laughed at the amp when I first saw it. The Ivebeenhad TSA15H and matching TSA112C cabinet is now in my current corral of amps. a couple of months ago, I saw it and my friend encouraged me to play it. I fell for it immediately and put it on lay-a-way. I've owned several early 70's model Marshalls and mid to late 60's Fenders and the tone on this little Chinese amp is absolutely rockin for the bucks.
I gigged with it last weekend and it was perfect for both tone and volume. It was a great compliment to the Hwy One Tele.
I never imagined owning anything other than Fenders, Marshalls, Mesa Boogie, Hiwatt, etc. and other customized amps. I just could not pass this little guy up. For the bucks and the tone it is absolutely great. The head is loaded with two 6V6 output tubes, two 12AX7 preamp tubes, a switchable tube screamer and boost. The power is switchable between 15 and 5 watts. The cabinet has a 12" seventy 80 Celestion. Don't worry Fender you still have plenty of amps I want (65 Deluxe Reverb, Red October Hot Rod Deluxe III, 59 Bassman and Hot Rod Deville 410 III).
If any of you own the TSA and or have played one for any length, post a comment on here whether you like it or not. So far the only complaint I have is cosmetics; mistakes in spelling China (Chian) and the Normal channel (Nomal). I think that adds to novelty of discussion when showing it off. Again I usually like amps from the Americas or Europe... but if you are a tone connoisseur you cannot pass this little guy up. I will see how long it holds up to regular playing/gigging.

Wild Rose the black Hwy One Tele looks great! I have not seen one before. I don't know if they came in white. I know that they came in a Honey Blonde. I have a Hwy One Strat that is a Honey Blonde. The gig sounds good as well. The combination of Orange Rockverb 50watts (blackouter coating on the head encloser and the dials.) amps is great, or if he has it in the black Hiwatt next to the orange stack. It would be nice to see what he is using for speakers with the Oranges. Most likely some Celestions (just guessing). Any way he has it dialed in and rockin it!
Mainburner I like the triburst Tele! It is beautiful. I would like to add another to my corral of guitars. From some of the info I've been gathering, some dealers still have Hwy Ones and they are trying to move them. I have heard of them going as low as $500 just to clear their inventory. I just wished I had $500 dollars laying around for that purpose!
