Here is some of the recordings that I first tried a couple of posts ago. I hope it is not to raunchy, yet I would take that as a complement.

I hope you folks don't mind, I feel like a little kid having fun with technology and meeting other folks with similar interests!

I hope to do some more experimenting on recording and meeting with other musicians in the NOLA area. Let me know what you think.

P.S.
Not unless it is Brad Traweek that is doing all the reading, I am seeing some 500+ reading these posts. Please adds some comments if they are considerate, informing and constructive! By the way Brad, I don't mind you reading what is going up, it would be nice to meet you.

Thanks Guido. Do the early Teles have the same pickups (AlNico3's)? Did you have it refretted with Jumbo frets? I am enjoying mine. I have not been used to jumbo frets, but for some reason I have fallen in love with them. I have set up the guitar to factory specs except for the neck, I could put a little more relief into it and may still do it. It plays so well, right now and I have no fret buzz, we shall see. I am real big on following manufacturers directions. I bought it from a group who does not know how to properly setup a guitar. The Tele was way off on heighth and intonation it was not even funny. The neck relief is off about a hundreth of an inch, but it is still not buzzing. just for my style of playing(chopping wood) I may put a little more relief into it and bring it into factory specs.

I picked up a Marshall Class 5 (used) it is a older model. It is not the model that rattles, but for some reason after you get past six on the volume it just does not produce like on Marshall's videos or sweetwater videos. The overdriving tube sound is really crapping out on the bottom end. I turn the bass down to 1 or zero and it stills farts. One of my preamp tubes is not burning as bright as it ought to and I am thinking about replacing them both since it is a 2009 or 2010 model. The guy who owned it before me barely played it. I am one who will play the dogsnot out of my gear. I will take care of it, but I will put it to work. If anyone has had issues with this on the Marshall class 5 or similar tube amps let me know. All my amps in the past were more than 50 watts, so if I was working them, you were running close to being sterilized. :0

Holy preamp tubes Batman!!!! A buddy at a shop had an insurance job on an amplifier that needed to be returned and he grabbed the tubes out. They were Fender preamp tubes - Groove Tubes. Oh I am telling you it was daylight and dark in the sound comparison. I went from making gastric noises pass 6 on my Marshall Class 5 to some wonderful cranking jamming!!!!! I cannot wait to change the output tube. I am so excited!!!!

Again for some of you guys who have kept up with me in through these encounters I hope you can enjoy with me the cool discoveries along the way. For those who have not read all that was going on with the preamp tubes, I picked up a cool little Limited Edition Emerald Green Marshall. The sound was great at 4 and even up to 6. My mix on the Bass was probably a 2 and the mid was a 1 and the Treble was maybe a 8 or 9. After going past 6 is sounded like the fat lady farting rather than the fat lady singing!!!

I was not too happy. I have several years working with electronics. I looked at the preamp tubes and I noticed one did not burn as bright as the other. Oddly enough when I replaced them they were both Marshall tubes, but one was different than the other. I will put up the difference in pics and numbers. The one closest to the input jack was written in white and said "Marshall" "ECC83 "VLVE-0005(possibly another five, paint blurb) "WK46/08" The tube that was farther away and was not as bright as the other was written in red and had "Marshall" "ECC83" "VLVE-00066" "09/08". Okay here comes some picks and please guys put some logical realworld feedback. Well, I will accept some illogical feedback as well as long as it shows some ingenuity and sidesplitting humor!

Image
Image

Again as always, guys please put some thoughts up. The Hwy One Tele is pleased and is thanking me and requesting the output tube to be replaced. She is correct in wanting these and she will get it!

Ok guys, have I p*$$#d somebody off? We were having a great a little forum showing our purchases and last Hwy Ones Teles to be made. I know I slipped off conversation with my Marshall Class 5 talk, but man, the Hwy One Teles sound fantastic through them! I know I slipped off talking about my FrankenTele, but I will try to put some Hwy One Parts on it to legitimize it.

Some of you guys have shown great pictures and great videos. I put up some crappy ones, but hey, I am getting better at using technology. For a forum to be only up 60 days and receive 646 hits I think that is pretty stinking cool. Thanks goes to all the guy who had posted and made this possible especially Fender!

A cool report, a friend who salvaged Tweed Fender Blues Deluxe (1X12 tube amp) from a fire, is going to put it into my possession! Not sure when, but will give the date when I take possession of it. For those who don't know, it is a butt kicking 40 watt amp made in America. The tweed is still good and amazing enough, after being thrown out of a building on fire and it works fine! Brad Traweek if you are reading this it sounds like a cool Fender commercial!!!

A little update on the FrankenTele, which I am not going to give much a way until it is finished, its color is midnight wine. Maybe that says something about how I need to work on it.... =-] I purchased it less than buying one brand new, crap I don't think you could by the case for what I paid for it hahhhhhhhehhhahhha. budget, I have to keeping thinking budget, I want come out on this one that will have folks shaking their heads!

Oh, I did some cosmetic updates on the Hwy One Strat and Tele, I know this is about Tele's but I know you guys would appreciate the updates on the Hwy One Strats.

Ok, since this is an Hwy One Tele site, I added my cosmetic changes to the Tele. Like the goober the I am, I bought the 5-hole pick guard rather than the 8 hole. so I marked where the holes needed to be drilled and then made small countersunk spots for the screwheads. A little more work, but it works. Now with that said, I don't like they way it looks. I am thinking about getting a black pearl. Here is a shot of what I did last night.

http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/7107/0806111658.jpg

I don't know what happened but my Marshall Class 5 started making noise yesterday. I took out all my tubes and cleaned them. I used some fast electronic cleaner I have that is plastic safe. I sprayed the tubes and the sockets and let them dry for a good period of time and of course the amp was turned off. Put it all back together and played it today for a least 2 hours and it sounded great. Not sure if it was something I did the other day when I replaced the preamp tubes, which the Groove Tubes themselves made it sound fantastic.

Ok for you guys that are the hardened Fender know it alls and/or a better respectful term Fender aficionado, I had the delightful experience of picking up and playing a 1957 New Orleanian Stratocaster Floater. The Neck on it was so beautiful and felt like it was built for my hands, that if Fender built all their instruments necks this way they would corner the guitar market! I know that some work was done on the neck. I also played a week earlier a 1962 duo sonic, let me just stop at this moment to say, I've been a musician for about 40 years and have strummed on guitars that same amount of times before being forced to play brass instruments. I know these guitars looked, smelled, and felt exactly like the real deal. Especially when the owners say there is no price.

I can tell when a neck has been worked on. The 1957 Vnecked Strat had some work and the though I did not smoke over the 1962 duo sonic, I knew it had work done to it as well when I could barely play a D-note that would fit a small hand. The new neck will be have some superficial repairs as well as taking the time to fit it exactly to my hand and so I want to make sure that it has the correct Nitrocellulose lacquer. I know from working with a paint company that will remain anonymous that we had over 19 different products (in nitrocellulose) that we sold customers. Does anyone in their infinite Fender wisdom know which nitrocellulose lacquer is used with Fender necks. I think it would matter considered the application and use over time. My "FrankenTele" is going to have much work done on it, and I am trying to get my ducks in a row. I do not want this to be some weekend thrown together piece of yeehaw. I come from a family of engineers and we pride ourselves over reading manuals studying proper material and interviewing folks that are experts in their field of study. With that said I still can be a goober at times and do learn from being the classic goober that I am. So, if any of you finish aficionado types will be so gracious to let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. I see on ebay people bottle ling up “superior” Gibson Les Paul high polish finish nitrocellulose, which makes me think of the snake oil peddlers. Oh, they may be selling the correct formula, but if it cures bunions, I am not sure that I want to spend an extra $10 bucks when I can pick it up at the local paint shop.

Again, please write, post, show pictures or your Hwy One Tele’s they are now becoming a dying breed and I hope we can show them, repair them, modify and do some outrageous things to them in the hopes that Fender will return the model.

Nolastrat

P.S. I don't know if I told this or not but the new pickguard on the Hwy One Tele was a 5 hole. I needed and 8 hole, so me and porter cable made some some holes and did some countersinking with some of the larger sized bits. It will be changed within the next week, possibly to a black pearl look. who knows the Christmas green might look good and put people in a better spirit.

I am in need of some of your expertise help here! I started hearing a noise just before playing my Hwy One Tele in the neck position. I could hear it while playing it and after. I thought I was loosing my mind. so I tried the Hwy One Strat. No problem, sounded great. I hooked up the Hwy One Tele in the neck position and sure enough again here is this noise that is going on before I play, during my playing and after my playing. I put the selector on the bridge neck, nothing!!! It sounds great, no noise! Has any had this problem before? I am going back to the store with it in the morning, but it heart breaking!!! I hope it can be fixed, but it nothing that I have ever experienced before!!! I almost fill jinxed! If you have had this problem or something similar please, please let us know. I cannot stand the thoughts of my guitar being gutted by someone who may or may not have had factory training. acccording to the the neck and string setups, they have no trainging!!! I am old enough to be the the manager's father!!!!

Nolastrat

P.S.
I need one of those necklaces that allows me to call someone in an emergency,"help I've fallen and I cant get my Tele up!"

Okay out of the 721 people who have read this or looked at the pics or videos, you should at least leave some bit ob info like my name is Zorba from the planet Xenon.

I did not leave my Hwy One Tele with the music department manager. I let him play it for over 30 minutes and it did not do the noise that it made last night. I got home and played it for over an hour and nothing! Thank goodness, but I was looking for a reason to call Lindy Fralin! Ha Ha (Just joking) Who knows I may still. The pickup sounds remarkable. It is the Alnico3 and the manager could not get over how well it sounded plus the range I got out of it (part of being a manager, make sure to blow smoke up the customer's rear). Something he kept replying on was how I had it set up. He said this is unbelievable and feels great! He asked did you buy this it our store? I said yes I did. He said did you set it up and I said yes. I've been setting guitars for years. If you follow the manufacturers advice, it amazing how you can make a guitar playable and sound good. (Again I think he was just blowing up smoke so as to not have to deal with the situation.) If it happens again, and they won't order another pickup, I will go to Lindy have him make one just like it.

Again, if any of you have had these issues please bring them up. It will help us to deal with the problems and help Fender with making a better product. I have owned several
Fenders and I have never had one to act up on me. I have always used them as they were meant to be used.

I have lost some touch with some of the original language we were using at the beginning. Again The Hwy One Tele’s have been fun and we are said that Fender decided to do away with the line. If you want to gloss the finish up a little and put Texas’s Specials in them and call them American Specials and charge $149 msrp more than so be it. Oh wow, and strap locks, maybe a case will come with them. The person who come up the gig bag should be takeout and driven over, thrown in the back of a van, truck, uhaul. I have never understood it and it makes me upset, if you cannot tell.

I do like the American Specials I also like the Alnico 3 pickups. If I wanted something to ringsomeones head off on the first few rows of the venue I would put the specials on!!! No they do have their place and time to be used and a person who knows how to play an instrument knows how to work it!

Well in case I don't get on here and run my mouth, which will be a miracle, Leo would be 102 years old tomorrow. It is amazing how someone can change how millions of people play and do things over the years. Thanks to a man and his innovation

Oh Ukraider!!!! I want one please!!!!! She is beautiful! Butterscotch Blonde, give me a break! Aaaaahaahhhh! It is wonderful! Are the dealers trying to jack up the price or are they remaining about the same or lowering? Thanks for the pictures and fill free to put up more!!!

I am having the same problem again out of my front Hwy One Tele pickup. It will make a sctratch noise and or a pop noise, before I strike a note, during, and after. The dealer's manager only wants to blow smoke up my tail about how nice the piece is and my amp. I have tried it on the rear pickup, the and the Hwy One Strat and do not have the same problem. I cannot find anything on the internet. I love the sound of the pickup, but when it makes the noise, I almost want to through the thing down! I know the little child inside of me being a brat. Is there something different from the front pickup than the rear pickup and the the pickups from the Hwy One Strats that would allow some weird noise? I have thought about it being in the selector switch. I may try checking it out, because the managaer/assistant manager have not earned my trust to leave my guitar with them. They want me to leave it with them to look at it, I am wondering what in the crap will you look at? Especially from a guy who has not learned to read the Fender manual on how to set up a guitar!

Oh well. I have vented enough and have taken away from Ukraider's glory of his new beautiful masterpiece! It is absolutely breathtaking. Again are dealers jacking up the prices or are they keeping them close to what they should be?

Nolastrat

P.S.
Thanks again for the pictures and any news information or anything you learn or pick up please let us know!!! More pictures would be nice =-]

Hey nolastrat

Below are some more pics of my new Highway One. I am so glad that i decided to get a HGWY 1 Tele before they disappear from the shops they are such a wonderful guitar to play. The 3 tone sunburst I got recently was nice but when I saw this Butterscotch model up for sale and in almost perfect condition i had to have it. The websites that i have seen that are still carrying stock of the HGWY 1 seem to be keeping the price at the usual level. Hope you get the strange noise from the pickup sorted soon one and for all.

Here are the pics............

Thanks Ukraider for the beautiful pictures of your butterscotch Hwy One Tele!!! I love to see them! I am like you I hate to see them go. Some stores still have them in their inventory, but Fender does not put them on their website. A friend today allowed me to see their inventory that they still have which are roughly 20 guitars. Oddly enough, did you know that Fender also made Mexican Hwy Ones! I saw them and their numbers. Oddly enough they cost the store more money to sell. They were almost $200 dollars more.

I have been in conversations with the management of the store. They have looked at a couple of ideas. 1. Send it back to Fender and let them see if they can figure out what is going on. 2. Order another Hwy One from their inventory, which they do have a couple of triburst Hwy One Teles. 3. Let the manager see if he can work on it. I do not like the third idea. We will go with either 1 or 2. I hate it because I fell in love with the neck pickup and that was the selling point for me on the Hwy One as well as the Midnight Wine color.

I like them their at the store and they have been good to me, but this does need to be figured out. It breaks my heart to have this small "pop" and scratchy noise. Being the tech head that I am I want to find out what it is that is causing the problem. Oh, well, either way Fender will most likely get the guitar back to scope it over. I hope I can stay in correspondence with them on it and see what they find out.

Ukraider, thanks so much for showing off a rare guitar. When we were looking through the inventory that the company still had, I asked him to look for a "butterscotch" hehhheheheheh. You have a beautiful special guitar, and I hope it sounds as good as it looks!

Ukraider, I must say I have been eyeballing your "butterscotch" Hyw One Tele and it is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for the well wishes on my pickup. I believe Fender being the great company that it is will do what is right.
One nice thing is I will pickup my MIM Tele that was a customer trial guitar. It has some nicks and dings but nothing to bad. It is the one that I am going to do some crazy things with. Who knows, I was thinking of putting tvjones in the bridge! heheheheheh. Crazy I know, but I am reaching an age of wanting to do some weird stuff. I have read about other players like Billy Gibbons over the years and worked for Luthiers that have done some far out things for people. I believe it will be fun and it is my time to start doing some experimenting. I will take my time. The guitar oddly enough is a midnight wine and a Mexican Standard. I don’t know if they still do it but all the electric necks where made here in America before being shipped to Mexico. So all you have left are some electronics which will be changed out and some well cut wood and cool paint job, which may stay the same.

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0145102302

A little eye candy, yet it looks very much like my Hwy One Tele without the shiny finish.
It looks darker in person, almost black and has a metallic flake to it as well. So, it will be fun playing around with it. Again I have all sorts of weird things running through my head. Kinda makes you wonder how the creative guys get their jobs at these companies.

I my have missed it Ukraider but are you playing these nice guitars through? Oh another question, is the company that is selling the "butterscotch" Hwy One Tele are they willing to ship to the U.S.A.? Thanks for the pics and the feed back

Thanks for the kind words about my new guitar, it was a limited edition in 2009 only 225 guitars made, I had not seen one before and the info about them is very hard to find, they are not available anymore, I got it second hand in almost shop new condition the guy i bought it off had not even played it through an amp since trying it out in the shop.

I play all the guitars in my collection they each get a couple of weeks playing time then go back in their cases and another one comes out to play!!!
