Wow! It is beautiful ukraider! You should put up a video and let us hear it! Sweet top! I was drooling over a sunburst hwy one tele on ebay, and the craziest thing, it did not sell at $500 bucks. The guy put in some seymour duncans and even put up vids to hear it. If I had the bread, I would have bought it.
We need more pics of yours and others Highway One Tele's on here. Eye candy! Again she is gorgeus!
Thanks ukraider!

P.S. I am thinking of doing a Frankentele project in the near future, not sure how it will all go yet, but I want to put a budget limit on it and take my time to buy what I want and at the price I want. Jamguy and my crawling the web for gear has caused some severe mad scientific ideas to roll through my old noodle!

Mainburner she is pretty! You guys with the sunbursts are causing me to want one. I read somewhere, "How many guitars are enough? Just one more..." Thanks Mainburner for putting up the pic. My first Strat was an American Standard sunburst. Just a correction about the ebay suburst Hwy One Tele, no one bidded on it at $500, but it later sold for $589.
Have any of you tried or own a Marshall Class 5? I have been surfing around the web for gear and come across it. Here is a cool demo with a Hwy One Tele. He starts with a Roadhouse Strat, then goes to a Hwy, then a Epiphone Les Paul.

I am seriously thinking about picking one up. Some of the price tags on the used ones are as low as $199. All british built. For a "mini-blues breaker" I don't think it is that bad of a deal. Any thoughts or comments would be cool.
I still want a Blues Deville 4X10 for stage and it will eventually be in my collection.

P.S. Again more Highwy One Tele pics!

Hello,

That's a beautiful wine Tele there! I have owned a HWY 1 blondie for a couple years. I wouldn't think of doing any mods, it plays and sounds great the way it is! I only own two electrics (the HWY 1 and a 56 Gibson ES-125), the HWY 1 is indestructible and can get a wide variety of tones. the ES-125 is a very cool guitar, but the movable bridge and it's age make it much more fragile.

It's a shame that Fender discontinued the HWY 1, but for the people that own them it's a great guitar that was very affordable (got mine for $550) and will last a very long time!

Thanks for the complement Telehound! I hope you will post some pics. I would not dream of doing the experimentation on the Hwy One Tele! It is "fine as wine" the way it is!
I am looking for a body on cragslist and doing a FrankenTele with it. Looking for Mex, Japan, even American if the price is right. Just looking for parts to build something to experiment and see how low I can do it with fundage. I will fork over the bread for some Lindy Fralins or TV jones. We will see.
Again I hope you will post a pic of your Tele. Sorry I have dreamed of putting a pearl pickguard on and preserving the American stickers possibly for later sale, about 25 years from now... =~]

Thanks for the extra pics ukraider! She is pretty!

I found a sunburst Hwy One Tele today at a guitar shop. The guys had the thing listed at well over a grand and were giving it a "30%" off sell for over 800 hundred. Which if my math serves me correct it should have been in the $700 range. I thought they retailed at $999. Oh well, they really did not seem to be the brightest stars. I bought my Hwy Ones (Tele and Strat) for significantly less. I still was drooling over it and hey, who knows, a man might just be able to get them to come down. I know, "My name is Nolastrat and I am a guitaraholic..."

I had an interesting thing happen on Monday. I went into a shop, that will remain anonymous, to try out some amps with my Hwy One Strat (I know this is a forum for Hwy One Teles, I had not set it up yet, just bare with me). They had me check my case at the door and carry my guitar around to test the amps. While I was in the back of the store a guy comes in and slams some gear down on my brand new fender case (a case that usually comes with the American Deluxe models; see profile pic). Nobody says anything to me about it. I leave the store to find out I have a huge crack in the case and it is tore out of it's frame. I go back in and show the guy at the door. He scratches his head and does not know what happened. He gets the manager. He half listens to the story and says he will give me a TSA002 case. I said I want the same style case I had and I want it in the same (brand new) condition. He handed me over to the assistant manager who played around a little with "how did this happen" and then he finally remembered a difficult customer, being a jerk and slamming his equipment down on my case. He could not find the same case in the stockroom. They offered me a tweed case! Wow, where ever the horse shoe is stuck, I want it to stay! So, guess who's home it is now, the Hwy One Tele!!! I know a long story, but it was too good not to tell!!! And of course there are pics! I believe those cases retail for about $259!!!

The Hwy One Strat did not fit well, and so I fitted it for the Hwy One Tele!

I think Fender supersedes the Highway Ones with the American Specials, as Highway One basses are no longer listed on the products page (this is the same case for guitars I guess).

Yeah Chromeface we were talking about that earlier in the forum. I have seen the American Specials side by side in the stores with the Hwy Ones and the obvious differences are the finish of the paint and the pickups (Texas Specials). I know that I do like the AlNiCo3 pickups in the Hwy Ones and think that they are a really good selling point, but that is my opinion. When I have matched them with AlNiCo speakers, I believe it gives a matched wonderful reproduction of the tone from the guitar. Just my opinion though. I also like the sound of the AlNiCo3 pickups with the Ceramic Greenback Celestions. Both have different sounds and both give me goose bumps of joy from great tone/sound. I have owned Texas Specials and they have their own sound uniqueness as well which I believe are good. They seem to be a little "hotter" if that is what you want.

Speaking of the finishes, Jamguy had earlier shared about removing scratches from your Hwy One finish that it will leave a polished spot. I have noticed that the more I play my Hwy Ones that the oil from my skin polishes the places I rest my hands or arms while playing. I thought about just polishing the whole guitar and be done with it, but I am thinking it adds to the "character." It could be the reason for Fender changing from the Satin finish to the Gloss finish with the American Specials.

When setting up my Hwy Ones (Strat and Tele) I have found that a 1.5 mm allen wrench works better on the Hwy One Tele than what is provided with the Fender package. On the Hwy One Strat the wrench provided did not work either. I presume it to be a .050. I tried a 1/16 and it did not work as well. It makes me question the origin of the saddles/bridges for these guitars. I tried the 1.5mm with the Hwy Strat and it did not work. I went to the hardware store and picked up some more metric wrenches. Like a goober I did not label them, but one of them worked, which I did mark. It is either a .9mm or a 1.3mm. I hope this info helps when setting up your guitars so you don't strip out the bolt head.

The Allen wrench provided for the truss rod adjustment works, but it is a little loose. I had to put some relief in my Hwy One Strat neck in getting it closer to Fender specs (.010 height at the 8th fret with a capo on the first fret and the string depressed on the last fret of the 6th string).

I little info that I hope helps. If you have any thing that you have picked up or learned with your Hwy One Tele (yeah we can talk about those strats as well :-]) please pass it along. I know it helps me when you guys share your experience and or data!

After starting this thread, I did not know that it would turn out to be so good to hear from other artists! I know that I am longwinded with posts and need to work on shortening my blurbs. I appreciate each one of you folks who have contributed to the Highway One Tele and I hope we can keep sharing information, pictures and possibly see another line of Highway One Tele's to come back in production.

Some interesting news, I have ordered an Emerald Green Marshall Class 5 and it should be here today or tomorrow. I am so looking forward to trying it out. those who are not familiar can look up the amp on Marshall's website. It comes as a combo with a 10" speaker and also as a head. I played the head yesterday and was absolutely blown away by it's power and tone for just a little 5 watter!!! When mine comes in I will play a little and put a link up for any interested in checking it out. I did play a Fender Blues Junior last week and want one as well. My funding is running out, a man does have to eat sometime. :-] I did play a Genz Benz 30 and found it to be an interesting amp. Does Fender own this company? I like the amp, but found it to not break up the way I wanted. I may need to play with a little more to get what I want. I am still hoping to pick up a blues Deville 4X10 tweed. It has some serious hum when not strumming, nothing like my other Fender amps I used to own. If anyone knows some info on trailing out the humming issues for the bBlues Devilles, please let me know.

I was allowed to play a 1957 maple necked Stratocaster Katrina Flood survivor yesterday! I have never held an instrument in my hands that felt so wonderful! It has a vneck and is not bulky. The body was Alder and it was so lite in weight!!! I have never held a strat that was so amazing! The neck fit my hands perfectly. The poor body had been floating in the flood in 2005 and so the purple finish was cracking off. The tone was absolutely perfect! The neck at the body was split from drying out, but did not affect the playability. I have owned and played several strats and this one was like heaven on earth! Of course it is not for sale. A new friend who is a luthier is carefully working on it to bring it back to life. I wished I had pics, maybe next visit I will put some up. It made me feel like a little kid at Christmas just to hold and play the guitar.

Again folks I appreciate your pics and comments. Ukraider, I meant to tell you how much I appreciated your pics. The wood grain looks beautiful and it appears that the wood has some stress marks that add to the beauty to the instrument. I love seeing guitars that show the wood grain and marks that naturally occur during the tree's life.

Please share your Highway One info, pics and your experiences with different amps, pickups and any mods you find yourself doing with your Hwy One Teles!

I have recorded some short licks on my new Emerald Marshall Class 5 Amp. I can hear it on my video cellphone, my computer, but for some reason I cannot hear it on Youtube. If someone does not mind to listen and see if they can hear my scratchin around and let me know I would appreciate it. I was hoping to give a little demo on the Marshall Class 5 amp. I like it so far and it is amazing for just 5 amps! I want to add more to my sound like a Fender blues Junior and a Tweed Fender Blues Deville 4X10.

So please if you can hear it let me know. Thanks in advance.

I went on ahead and removed the posts that I recorded. I could not get them up. If I can pull them off my cell phone late I will add them.
I may try to record off of my laptop rather than my cellphone.

Here is another attempt at putting a video up of the Marshall Class 5. The settings were Volume - 3.5, Treble is 6.5, Middle is 3, Bass 1. I know I need to experiment with my laptop recording in order to get a better representation. The sound on the video does not do it justice. I will work on it and try to put something else up soon. Hopefully you can hear this recording.

P.S.
By the way, when doing the intro to Foxy Lady by Hendrix, my Hwy One Strat does a perfect feedback that gives you goose bumps!!!
