I like medium picks and use my fingers too. I find that if I use a pick for a while it seems to get better, it gets small indentations or nicks on the edge and seems to kind of mold to my hand slightly so I use it the same way round all the time and with the point pointing in towards my hand so I'm actually picking the strings with a corner of the pick at the flat end of the pick, I find this allows me to have my fingers closer to the strings while I'm picking and I deaden strings with those fingers some of the time. I have picks all over the house, different makes and different colours, I like the ones that are the same colour as my guitar (Candy Appel Red) :D

You'd probably find a fair selection of picks down the back of my couch, under my bed, probably under the piano, in shoes that I haven't worn for a while and in the pockits of clothes I haven't worn for a while too. Anywhere in the house that the eye can't see you'll probably find a long lost pick. :D

the V-Picks are cool...I've tried 5 different "styles" but my favorite is the original. I also really like the dunlop "Ultex". They have a cool shape and feel. The 2mm ultex picks are sweet.

A lot of people prefer a heavier pick-1mm and thicker-for a Tele to get a real twangy bite to it but I use nothing but Dunlop .73 Nylon picks.

I've tried that but it just doesnt feel right to me so I get those inactive fake credit cards Capital One sends out to everyone so you can sign up and cut off the edges and use that :D

Man, are you DESPERATE, or what??? Cut up credit cards?? Really?? Picks are cheap, unlike guitars and strings!! :D You can get a dozen for a buck or so.

When I flatpick, I either use the standard Fender Thins (white), or a thin Dunlop. I also pick with my bare fingers, sometimes use a thumbpick and metal banjo finger picks, and I have been known to use my index fingernail as a pick. I can get a snappy tone with about any method, except the "bare meat."

Oh no thats only if I have no picks/they are lost you see all the guitar shops around me are like 30-40 mins away and 30-40 mins back so I try not to run there since gas prices are high so I order my picks offline using ebay bucks to fully cover the charge and shipping so i wait and use what I can :)

True. Quite true. If I had a dollar for every pick I've lost over the years, I'd be loaning Bill Gates money!!! And I couldn't agree more about the gas prices. Just that I never heard of anyone cutting up those dummy credit cards for that purpose before. Hmmmmmm . . . Ah-HA -- we may be onto something here :!: :!: :!:

Yeah give it a try its as close as you can get to a pick and if you want round it out so it is more in the shape of a pick you'll be surprised :D

I tried a couple of V-Picks from a local shop and like them very much. The only problem is that there is so much variety in shape and thickness. I have an original shape that is a bit too thick and a larger style that is too big for me but it's the perfect thickness.

Other than V-Picks I'm also trying some Dunlop Gator Grip picks. Just like the Tortex version but slightly more texture on the surface so it doesn't slip in my hands.

on electrics I vary between .60mm up to 2.0mm and all points in between depending on individual guitar and/or song genre'.......
on acoustics I vary between .38mm to 1.0mm, same reasons....

Dunlops,Fender,Gibson,McPheirson Speedpick, ....vinyl,celluloid,don't care for "corkback" or notched.
my best picks are the old ones that have no markings left on them :D

Edit: does anybody remember the name of the pick cutter that has been selling for a while?.....little square body w/plier handles, cuts picks from credit cards, old dr.lic. etc.
