Gary56 hasn't posted in over two years either.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for either one of them to respond.

:D Still here guys!
I dont know what to say...
Its been 3 1/2 years since my post.

First, I want to apologize to all of you for my abscense and cero answer back from my side! I really feel bad seen all of you helping me and I have been just a shadow here...

I appreciate all your answers!! :3
THANK YOU ALL!!!

Now, I can tell you that today I understand or have more experience about guitars, string gauge, maintenance, ajustment and all this wonderful things about having a guitar =)

Back in jun2011, I decided to keep .009 in my guitar. Today I play with .011 elixir coated :3

I have tried a lot of different string brands and I loved Elixir (hard to find in my city, I need to order them online).

The best gauge for me is .010, but Im going up to workout my fingers, hammer—ons & pulloffs, bendings, etc... because Im bad at it :?

Im thinking to go one more gauge up (.012) and stay there for 6 or 8 months and then go back to .010

In this three years I had learn a lot and you guys were part of it. I didnt answer in those days because I was afraid—scared to speak other language, to get like «bully» or fun of me for my poor grammar & spelling.
Now, I dont care that much, I try to do my best and keep improving & learning everything I can.

Maybe this sounds inmature but that was how I felt back then, dont know why.

Once again, thank you all! =)
Ill try to be more active in this forums.

PD I still have my mex Thinline 72 (reissue)

Saludos!

Hi killeredi

It's good to hear that you have got a better handle on things.

I wouldn't go up to a 0.012 set, because likely as not it would require some filing to be done to the string slots in the nut.
The strings will probably not sit properly in the slots without filing the slots.

You will find that the slots are too big when you go down to the 0.010 set, and you will then need to get a new nut installed.

As far as improving your technique goes get yourself a metronome, and work on getting your playing really up to speed.
This one's a good place to start - the guy is a great player, and a good tutor too!
