I recently did a search for info on Nancy Wilson "Signature" guitars. I mean, she is great, has been playing FOREVER, and uses several different guitars regularly. I figured I would find LOADS of stuff endorsed by her or dedicated to her. Wrong...
The guitar that came up in most every search was the acoustic that she help design with Martin, an HD-35 with some tonal wood changes. A nice piece, but out of production since '05. And, at $4200 (if you can find one), perhaps out of reach for many players. Not really what I was looking for to begin with.

So I go to Fender...
What?
No Nancy Wilson Artist Series Tele? That CAN'T be right...

Here is an absolute ICON to the music industry for some 40 years now and they don't acknowledge her? This just seems wrong. I look some more. I find a posting in one of the Fender forums asking about her guitar, and some brief discussion of it. This was from 2008. (sigh)
Apparently, Nancy has used the same FENDER telecaster for nearly 40 years as well? It would seem she bought it back in '72, as that was when that particular model was available, and not since?
Sure there are a number of custom shops that can make one, just like hers, but that is not the issue here.
There are only 5, yes 5 artist series teles, 2 by the same artist, and one of them is more of a Strat/Tele mash on steroids (no offense J5).

Come on FENDER, let's get on board here and acknowledge one of the best. Make it a "Lifetime Achievement" thing, a REALLY BIG TO DO!!!

She deserves it.

If you buy a creme Standard Tele and put a chrome pick guard on it, you would have one. But that wasn't even his guitar.

i know...but there are a lot more small specs that are changed on the guitar. I'm impressed you know about it though. Or maybe you just googled it? haha

WAIT!! I've been waiting for a Lita Ford Artist Series Strat for years!
I'm convinced that doing my Jimi Hendrix "strat eat-out" on stage would be a lot more fun, if not "deadly" with a Lita Ford Strat!!

I mostly think of Nancy Wilson with a Strat, Les Paul or an Ovation.
Maybe a 70's Washburn.

I can't recall any other pictures of her with a Tele.

She had some sort of involvement with Epiphone over a Les Paul (Les Paul Ultra)
She appeared in ads for them.
She even got Epi to give one to a kid who was a fan of Nancy's.

I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post. I happen to own one of those HD-35 Nancy Wilson Signature Martins you mentioned (#78 of 101). I bought it because it was an amazing guitar, not really because of Nancy Wilson (though it is cool having her signature in the sound hole along with CF Martin IV's).

If Fender made a Nancy Wilson, I would be interested. I only have one tele right now.

Here's a fairly recent pic of Ann and Nancy with Fergie.
Nancy's apparently an equal opportunity player.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I know Nancy has played many guitars, by many makers. Yes, she likes her EPI LP Super (a light weight LP? YESSS!). I'm sure there are loads of people that would jump at the chance to have Nancy play and endorse their axe, which is more to the point.
If a company produces Artist/Commemorative guitars, set a bar, a level of "standards" and stick to it. Not necessarily a "who's in fashion", which is not a bad thing either, but I am thinking of a "Who is deserving?", or "representational".

A "Road Worn" 'Bonnie Raitt' Strat, duh, that was easy.

Perhaps I am not getting my point across...

I think the 'Artist' series should be expanded, a lot. Perhaps even cataloged unto itself. Produce the particular instrument for a period, and then preserve it to the custom shop.
This seems pretty straight forward to me.

I live 3 blocks from one of the nations best guitar shops, Dave's Guitar Shop, davesguitar.com, and I can walk in there and pick up and play MANY commemorative-artist-specific guitars. Or, walk upstairs and view (no touchy), a HUGE collection of vintage and collectables. I have this weird vision of a black wearin', metal master walking in with his daughter to buy her first guitar. He cringes as she gravitates toward a 'Hello Kitty' Squire, but smiles as she approves of a pretty blue sparkle Tele. You know the one, with the SH layout and a flying heart logo on the matching headstock...

Nancy has been doing a lot of promotion for the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra for the past couple of years, maybe Henry J. has her under some kind of exclusive contract and Fender can't get near her.Just a thought-but a Nancy Wilson Tele would be a nice guitar to own.BTW she's just one day younger than me but she looks about 20 years younger-great condition for 57 years old.

frankly, as good as Heart are, nancy wilson is by no means an icon and is not famous for being anything other than ann wilson's sister...all she does is play rythm and Heart haven't exactly been huge since the early 90s

Ann Wilson though...now that is an icon. quite possibly the best female voice in the history of rock and metal...

I saw Ann and Nancy on a Sunday morning program on A&E and Nancy did some tasty lead work but her style of fingerpicking is where she really shines. And yes,I must say that Nancy is much cuter than me-at 57 she's still a knockout in my books.

I never really thought much of her until I caught a live performance.
She is an amazing player.
