Has anyone had a problem with fret wear on a 52RI? I bought my 52 six months ago and and have had nothing but trouble tuning this guitar. I changed the saddles to Wilkies and this has improved the intonation problem but I still have a hard time with tuning. Open chords sound like crap especially the D chord, so I re tune the guitar so the D chord sounds good but chords past the 5th fret are now out of tune. I than noticed that the frets are extremely worn on the 1st - 5th frets especially on the E, B and G strings. I think they were worn when I purchased the guitar but can't prove it. The dealer said I probably worn them out but I don't think fret should wear out in six months. Has anyone had this problem with their 52 RI?
Thanks,
Musicrat

There is no way you can wear out frets in 6 months. Unless you stay at home, don't work and do nothing but play all day! The type/brand of strings you use may contribute to the wear a little, especially if the string material is way harder then the fret material. The guitar was likely hanging in the shop a long time, and was played to death by customers and employees. Or it was used to begin with.

Have never heard of any problem like this on the 52 Tele anymore than any other Fender Reissues, but have seen some used guitars (especially teles) that have lots of wear on those first five frets because of someone playing nothing but "Cowboy Chords" on it.
