That would be the late Clarence White...I think Leo had Clarence in mind when he built the Broadcaster.....Clarence became famous in the post-Crosby-Hillman-Clark Byrds....he is THE MAN who played the Tele B-bender invented by Byrds drummer Gene Parsons...

I would consider the far-and -away favorite Tele player to be the late and great Terry Kath (Chicago albums Transit Authority through XI). Even Jimi is supposed to have said to another band member, "your guitar player is better than me".

Indeed one of the best guitar players ever, but I think Terry played initially with a Gibson SG and then moved onto a Strat before his untimely death. He may have played a Tele at some stage though

Jack Penate is my favourite tele player. Most of you american users won;t have heard of him, but check him out, www.myspace.com/jackpenate

I've heard of him!
I have Spit at Stars, Torn on the Platform, Have I Been A Fool, Second Minute or Hour, and more...

For me I'd go with Jonny Greenwood, Thom Yorke, Joe Strummer, and many other players. But mainly Jonny :p

I may have mentioned this before - this forum has been going for a while now so forgive an old man with a poor memory - bu Tommy Emmanuel (an Aussie) is pretty good and worth a mention. Check this out using his old modded Tele http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae70lkdAzJs

All true. Somewhere around Chicago VI (1974) he switched to a Telecaster, and used that exclusively from that point forward. It was white with loads of stickers, and a Gibson humbucker in the neck.

OK I didn't know that.....I am pretty sure they only toured Australia once while TK was alive and he was playing the Strat then....thanks for the info

I'm not so sure if this counts, but Rory Gallagher - his slide tone on some of the early stuff was immense. There's a great video on the tube of a tv performance of "In Your Town" - Tele, Range Master and an AC30 - stunning :)

I'm not much of a Country fan, but how about Brad Paisley? I'm playing his Play: The Guitar Album right now.

Stephen Stills plays a mean tele - Fender presented him with a special custom shop model upon his induction to the R&R Hall of Fame...
