Don Rich (Buck Owens and the Buckaroo's) The Gold Sparkle Twangy 63 Tele play out of a FenderTwin! I was 11yrs. old and every day when the tv show came on I tried to play that riff at the start of the show! 43 yrs. later after all the the rock and roll...now i can play it? Aint' life strange...All kiddin aside that's what got me started and I wish that fender would make that tribute guitar before everyone forgets what the orignal Bakersfield sound was. If Buck and Don is watchin from up there ..Thanks guys for gettin me intrested in something that has gave me such pleasure...Even if I do play alittle different music...VH...LED....JIMMY H......and beleive or not blue grass now and then.

Some good answers here, and there is no right answer, but my favorite is Keith Richards. Any of his work featuring his 5-string Tele in open-G defines the Rolling Stones sound.

Andy Summers...when I saw him on the zenyetta mondetta tour as a kid he made me dream about and want a Tele....to this day he still amazes me with how he makes his Tele sing

Jimmy Page was the first who turned me to the Telecaster.

Then Albert Collins, Bernie Leadon, Clarence White, Robbie Robertson, culminating in Roy Buchanan - then I just got a Tele on the following day.

I am oldie so my first Fender idols were the Shadows. I still reckon few players come close to that pure tone of Hank Marvin's Strat. But Bruce Welch also played with a beautiful Tele tone that is seldom heard today - somewhere between an acoustic and an electric. Shows the versatility of the instrument I guess.

Yeah, I agree. You should read his autobiography...He's a pretty talented writer as well.
