You might want to post this over on the Stratocaster Forum instead of here on the Telecaster Forum.

In answer to your question I suppose it would be up to Holly's widow to authorize something. I know the CS got to examine and restore his final Strat (which was a '58 if I'm remembering this correctly), but really he just used a couple of stock mid-50s sunburst Strats. You could just get a Classic 50s Strat in sunburst or an American Vintage '57 Strat in sunburst to fill the bill.

What would be the point? Buddy used stock, off the shelf Strats. Buy an American Vintage '57 Strat in sunburst and you would essentially have a Buddy Holly Strat! :)

Fender Guy...I would have to agree...get a 57 reissue either an American one or a 50's Classic Series MIM...both are about as close as you can get to one...unless you want to go to the Custom Shop level then a '54 Strat Reissue would be as close as you can get.

Here is a photo of my 1982 '57 Vintage Strat Reissue and it does have a very good sound and has that 50's Strat sound...

And Welcome to the forum by the way...Great bunch of folks here and lots and lots of very accurate info on everything FENDER!

Nice strat T2 im thinking of squire CV 50s strat and get a fender logo and put that on it's headstock and then do buddy holly imitations but still i think that they should put out a buddy holly signature strat for 349.00 for a limited time

"We don't need no stinkin' strats....no, well, wait a minute!"

Why argue? Get a set. '57 reissue strat and '52 reissue tele.

Life would be very good then.

I'll say this, they better never invent time travel, or I'll never get out of 1957    ...and if they ever do reissue a BH commemorative they should sell it for $349 :!: :!: :!:

Well if I have to come back, then just let me take about $3K for a 57 Strat and Tele, a Tweed Twin, a Super, and a Champ...would be happy to come back then!

And while I am at it, might as well skip up to '66 and grab a Blackface Bassman head and cab, go watch Cream while I am at it and then return!

In 1972 a strat with HSC was $272 with tax...Tele was $252.
My super reverb amp was close to $300.

Less than a grand for all three, but then a house was $20,000.

In 1975 I bought my first house - this was in northern Minnesota - on 1-1/2 acres with a two-car garage - for $6,500. It was in sort of rough shape, but when I sold the property to my son in 2001 it was tax appraised at $172,000. Of course, I added on, built another 4-car garage........
