Pretty excited about this purchase. This tele is a 2002 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster in what I believe is called Candy Tangerine.

The coolest part for me is it has a very nice and different upgraded pickup combination. The neck pickup is an early 70's Gibson "patent" mini-humbucker and the bridge is a "Razer" brand alnico pickup.

She's in very good shape overall, with a couple of dings. 2 or 3 on the bottom bout, one is to undercoat on the face below the pickguard, not super noticeable. I actually like worn and dinged up guitars. I love character.

The frets have been dressed, but have many years of play left. The action is very low and VERY fast, no buzzing etc.

She certainly is a looker but that not the only thing with these awesome and aggressive pickups.......

The best way to describe this tele....she looks like a princess on the outside and is a complete $@!&# in the bedroom. What a sound!!

Here she is.....

Gorgeous! I like the mini-humbucker in the neck position, too.

I love all the various "orange" finishes--Fiesta Red, Candy Tangerine, etc. I saw somebody on this forum had the goal of getting guitars in all the various green finishes; if I had more money (and less sense :P ) I would do this with orange-based colors.

Congrats on the new acquisition...

Did the guitar use the stock 3-way selector or a super 5-way switch to split the mini humbucker for a more traditional single-coil sound?

This is the 2002 model before the 5 way switch. This one is 3 way.

All American Deluxe Telecasters made from 1999 to the present day come with a 3-way switch standard.

The only minor change occurred after 2004 was the addition of a S-1 switching system for more knockout tonal variations.

Early American Deluxe Telecasters made in 1998/99 came with the nashville pickup layout and 7-way switching.

Man, I agree with Snowy, I want one too. That is a wonderful color. I own a bass done in a Roadster Orange Metallic and your Tele has it beat.

Enjoy

That's a "TWANGY" looking Tele you've got there.
But did you have to kill the cat with it?
