Received my Old Growth Redwood Tele and discovered some things missing.

The Fender site shows "Vintage Leather Strap, Cable, Polishing Cloth; Materials Describing the Provenance of the Redwood" as accessories to be included (as of five minutes ago).

No provenance, no vintage leather strap. Replaced by the standard Fender cloth strap and several sheets of instructions in Mexican Spanish on how to set up.

Can I contact someone at Fender to receive the two missing items and return the two errant ones?

Mark

Edit_ also curious why there is no reference to "Tele-bration" or the 60th anniversary. Was is because some of the twelve won't be released until 2012?

Try contacting Fender Consumer Relations via one of these portals...

Telephone: (480) 596-7195
Fax: (480) 367-5262
E-mail: consumerrelations@fender.com

Someone should be able to help you out from there...good luck.
You also might try contacting the store you purchased the guitar from.

Thanks. I had been looking for an email address on the site and couldn't find one.

No problem...I had to google it to make sure I was telling you the right one.

Just picked up a second one for my son and the same items are missing from this one as mine.

Had emailed Fender on June 7 but no word about anything from them yet.

Reminds me of Neil Young's words "You pay for this, but they give you that".

Good luck if you can find it now.

http://www.fender.com/#/tele-bration (now takes you to the Fender starter home page)

takes you to a page that says you can get more information but now only takes you to the general products page. EDIT you have to click on the fourth spot of the changing message. If you check all the Teles listed it is no longer found.

I have a pdf of the page when I sent the original email on June 7, but it seems to have disappeared since I asked them about the difference between what is listed and what is actually included.

I don't know who is handling Fender's web page but either they aren't being given the correct info or they are having a problem connecting up all the links .... rather sloppy work.

Yeah, but the link to the Old Growth Redwood Telecaster, "Telebration" series product page has been taken down and replaced with a general "Fender Products" page, which is unrelated to the Telebration series, Old Growth Redwood Telecaster.

Yes, the "Learn More" link isn't connected to anything but the products page.

I just realized that...I was going to edit my post but it slipped my mind.
Besides my advice to contact consumer relations, I'm not sure of the next step you should take. Did you try calling Fender or only email? Maybe a call would expedite things for you if you haven't had a reply to your email.

This is just a gratuitous BTT, but wow. I hope the Fender marketing people are browsing this forum because they are sure getting slammed on several issues. I'm referring also to the Brown's Canyon fiasco which is rapidly going terribly wrong for them.

Hey Fender! Some of your employees are stepping on their, well, frontal lower appendage. Y'all need to fix some things and quickly. A problem ignored never goes away. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger and chases away customers.

(not that I'm bitter about not ever getting a Brown's Canyon tele, but......)

Mark,

If Fender Customer Service fails or refuses to complete your order as it was advertised, I suggest that you first try to contact Fender by telephone:

Call Mr. Don Randall, Chief of Sales at 480-596-9690 to explain your problem, and to see if you can have your problem resolved. Offer to return the incorrect items you received, if Fender will provide a postage number or Web link through UPS or FedX. Chances are, they will tell you to keep it.

If for any reason you are unable to reach Mr. Randall, and your problem is not resolved through your telephone contact, I would then write a formal letter to Fender Chief of Sales, Don Randall, and copy your letter to Fender CEO, Larry Thomas.

Explain that your purchase, was in reliance upon the Fender Internet information and advertisement, and enclose the pdf. copy of the Fender Old Growth Redwood Telecaster web page which was taken down after your purchase and after you contacted Fender Coustomer service regarding the incorrect case items. Explain that you were unable to have your problem resolved by Customer Service, or by your telephone call(s) on [date(s)]. Request the missing/incorrect items be provided, and again, offer to return the incorrect items you received, if Fender will provide a postage number or Web link through UPS or FedX.

Mail the letter "Certified - Return Receipt" to:

Mr. Don Randall, Chief of Sales
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
8860 East Chaparral Road
Scottsdale, Arizona 85250

Send a "Carbon Copy" (cc.) to Mr. Larry Thomas, Fender Chief Executive Officer with a short personal letter to Mr. Thomas explaining that enclosed, is a copy of your letter to Mr. Don Randall, Fender Chief of Sales. Explain that you were unable to have the problem set forth in your letter resolved by Customer Service, or by your telephone call(s) on [date(s)], and that you are seeking a resolution of your problem.

Mail your letter "Certified - Return Receipt" to:

Mr. Larry Thomas, Chief Executive Officer
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
8860 East Chaparral Road
Scottsdale, Arizona 85250

Obviously, include your address and all possible contact information in your letter.

These letters would cost you about $10.00 to mail, if necessary.
But hopefully you can get a sucessful resolution through Customer Service or by telephone.

Good luck, Mark.
I'm sure that you can obtain the missing items if you are persistent.
If for any reason you are unsuccessful, after taking the courteous course of action that I am recommending, PM me and I will be happy to discuss it with you further.

The above contact information was obtained from this web page and it's links:

Well said! It is a sad day when issues like this cannot be resolved simply through customer service especially in light of the $'s being spent. Looks like there is a serious disconnect within Fender that needs to be corrected. To get it done will help all of us.

Also I understand that using a company's Facebook or Twitter feeds tends to get quick attention as they do not want bad press on them. You might give that a try.

Keep us posted and good luck.
