What is the function of the copper plate on the bottom of your bridge pickups? I was going through a friends spare parts and noticed that every one of his tele pickups had this plate. A stock pickup, a texas special, and another mexican stock pickup.

Is is a bass plate? Copper is non magnetic so I cant imagine it affecting the field of the poles..

I ask because if it is anything significant I will slap one on my strat to hopefully harness some of that sweet tele bridge sound!

Quote:
Zinc plated steel baseplates for Strat coils add more bottom end definition, clarity and power to the coil. They work on the same principle as a Tele bridge baseplate with tapped mounting holes so height adjustment screws thread directly into the baseplate ensuring it will never fall off. The baseplates are waxpotted with the coil to provent microphonic feedback. Whilst it is most common to fit one to the bridge coil only, the zinc plated steel baseplates work well on middle and neck coils too.

Don't know why, when there's clouds up in the sky, stormy weather.

My guess is it's the citric (?) acid in the tomatoes reacting with the copper: C3H5O(COOH)3 + CuO ---> Cu(COOH)2 + (C3H5O)2O3

If on the other hand there were any nitric acid about, we would see: Cu + 4HNO3 ---> Cu(NO3)2 + 2NO2(g) + 2H2O causing the release of nitrogen dioxide, a poisonous brown gas with an irritating odour.

On the other hand, it might just be the garlic. Or the beans. Personally I don't put beans in bolognese sauce, but there's no accounting for taste
