My local GC has a Telecaster that am thinking about buying, but I can't find it anywhere online for any other info. It's a 60th anniversary tele with an ash body and maple fretboard, but it has an antique sunburst finish. Has anyone seen one of these? Retail is $1400.

Fender doesn't have a lot of info on the 60th Anniversary "Telebration" guitars on their website; there are several of them but Fender only lists one on the site.

Here is some info from a dealer's blog with NAMM show photos/descripitons of the guitars:

http://www.themusiczoo.com/blog/2011/fender-tele-bration-2011-60th-anniversary-limited-edition-guitars/

Sounds like you might have seen the May guitar - the "Empress Telecaster" in honeyburst; there is a photo about half way down the blog page.

Nope, not the Empress. It has the black pickguard and a different paint job. It actually looks like the white 60th anniversary model except with a different paintjob. Actually, it has the same sunburst finish as my diamond model 60th anniversary Fender model from 2007, which you can see here:

Are you sure it's not a regular production model with the 60th anniversary backplate? I believe all the 2011 teles have this.

Correct...All Teles this year are fitted with the 60th anniv. neck plates.

The only 60th Anniversary Limited Edition - non Custom Shop - Telecaster with an "antique sunburst" finish is the Flame Top Telecaster which has a white pickguard. Unfortunately, the actual production Flame Top Teles are 2 color, not 3 color as was shown at NAMM, and they do not have the gold Deluxe bridge, as was shown at NAMM.

I just got off the phone with Fender. They verified by S/N. It's an FSR run for Guitar Center of the 60th anniversary Tele in a sunburst finish, so it's the same Tele as this:

http://www.fender.com/products/60th-tel ... No=0116112

An FSR run for the Guitar Center is NOT one of the Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters."
It is not one of the "Telebration" 2011 Telecasters.
It is a "package" guitar designed for the Guitar Center, as are all FSR Guitar Center Fender Guitars.

So, the FSR Guitar Center Telecaster is NOT the same Tele as this:

http://www.fender.com/products/60th-tel ... No=0116112

...Which is one of the actual "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters," albeit, without any stated limited edition production numbers...

This is not to imply that the FSR Telecaster is not a nice guitar, nor that the "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters," will necessarily be worth any more money than the FSR Tele in the future.

The FSR Telecaster is simply NOT one of the Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters." Nor are any other 2011 Telecasters which carry the 60th Anniversary neck plate badging.

Not sure why you would say that. According to Fender, it is. They took the exact same 60th anniversary model and put a different finish. It isn't a Telebration model, but it IS one of the 60th Anniverary Limited Models.

That is like saying that all Fender Telecasters that are made this year are "60th Anniversary models." They are not.
They are merely Telecasters that are made in the 60th year of Telecaster production.

A Fender "Factory Special Run" (FSR) guitar is NOT a "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster."
It is a "Factory Special Run" that was made in the 60th year of Telecaster production.

Here is a butterscotch blond, MIM, FSR example:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... =414307573

This MIM Telecaster appears to be an exceptional value and a very nice guitar. It is NOT a "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster." Rather, it is a "Factory Special Run," absent any stated production numbers, that is "OUTSIDE" of the Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster" program.

Whoever you spoke to at Fender either misspoke, had a lack of knowledge of the Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster" program, which does NOT include FSR guitars, or you misunderstood what they were saying. The actual "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster" program includes a few more guitars than are shown in the "Telebration" poster below.

This video displays all of the guitars in the "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster" program.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like one, it's a duck.

Similarly, if it's advertised as a 60th Anniversary Limited Edition tele and has the same specs, it's a 60th Edition Limited Edition tele. It'd be like saying an American Standard in a different color isn't an American Standard, even though it's built at the same factory of the same materials and pups.

Show me an actual Fender description of this FSR Telecaster as a "60th Anniversary Limited Edition telecaster."
You can't because it does not exist.

You are also unable to produce a Guitar Center description of this FSR Telecaster as a "60th Anniversary Limited Edition telecaster."
That's because it does not exist.

That would be false advertising by the Guitar Center.
Both you and I know that such advertisements do not exist.
That's because FSR Telecasters are NOT "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters."
That is due to the fact that 2011 FSR Telecasters are NOT a part of the Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster" program.

ONLY the "Telebration" Telecasters are considered to be "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters."
"Telebration" guitars were part of a specific buying program for Fender dealers who had to agree to purchase at least one of each model, or two of each model, etc. FSR Telecasters were NOT a part of this Fender marketing and purchasing program of "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecasters."

This FSR Telecaster doesn't look like a duck, or quack like a duck.
That's because it is not a duck.
It's just another FSR Telecaster, NOT a Fender "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster."

Here is a very similar FSR AM Standard Telecaster to the one you pictured at the Guitar Center.
This FSR American Standard Ash Telecaster has a sienna sunburst finish and is apparently being produced for Elderly.
http://www.elderly.com/fmic/items/FSRATSSB.htm
As you can see, there is NO claim made that this is a "60th Anniversary Limited Edition Telecaster."

Nice try dude!

That is beautiful...I like that finish, and the grain on that specific guitar is perfect! I hope you've picked that one up, you'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. That really is nice.

I agree with you Tim, the Guitar Center FSR Am Standard Ash Tele is a great looking guitar.
