I use D'addario and GHS Boomer 10's on my American Standard. Standards come set up for 9 gauge strings but only minor adjustments were needed. I'd recommend keeping the heavier gauge. It's easy to get used to and you get a lot more tone.

I'm not sure what came on my AmDeluxe but I recently changed the G B and high E to .016, .011 & .009 respectively: I bought a pack of XL 125's for the next restringing - .046, .036, .026, .016, .011, .009... I've used this config for at least 20 years and found it to be just right for chicken pickin, twang and steel style bends. I also love the round fat tone in the bass strings: it gives a sound almost like a piano!

I use nickel wound 10-46's on all my guitars. Ernie Ball's or DR's.

I cant do steel type bend with 9's i way over bend, and i just cant get a fet thick tone out of 9's. I am not a speed picker, but i can get around pretty well, and i just feel like i am playin with rubber bands with any thing lighter that 11's. Like i said earlier i use the GHSD boomers low tune 11-53

I've been using the Dean Markley Blue Steels, and I get a pretty good tone from the 10 gauge strings. I've never tried the D'Addarios but I think I may try those next.
