I've never owned a Tele, but have the bug to pick one up lately. The issue for me is I've never really liked the blocky shape. My Strat and Ibanez guitars have always been pretty comfortable. Any comfort issues with your Tele or I'm overthinking the body shape?

the answer lays in your own shape... since i'm rather slim i get quickly uncomfortable with non-shaped axes; it's squeezing my ribs and el and also my thigh playing it sitting, -not really my kind of gear. guess that's why jeff beck mauled his to comfort...

I prefer my Tele over Strat and Strat-type guitar. When I play sitting I hate how guitars with rounded edges slide all over the place. The Tele sits where I put it. Standing I don't really care too much. If you've ever played a Les Paul, I think that and a Tele are pretty similar as far as comfort goes.

I am a Fender guy period :) I have Strats and Teles. The only non Fender guitar I have is a Gretsch Hollowbody(still FMIC so it's all good). The Tele and gretsch fit perfect either standing or sitting. The Strat only standing. I hate the "comfort" contours on the Strat. When I am in the studio I prefer to sit when I am playing. I always have to have a strap when playing my Strats. With my Teles...never a strap needed. Plus silly as it may seem I went from being a die hard Strat guy to now rarely playing them since I got my Teles.

I know the feeling. I got my Tele, and now I very rarely play my other electrics. Even my Schecter which is still one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned see's very little use.

Once you figure that out, you can never go back to a strat...

I don't have any problems with the Tele bodies. If I did, I'd just find
a good belt sander.

I play sitting. Bad knees and hip. I also play classical style (I actually played classical guitar over 20 years ago). I find that that position, along with about 30 pounds of padding, eliminates any discomfort regardless of guitar shape.

Depending on the thickness of the body, the tele style keeps my hands at a better angle for playing.
Contoured bodies draw my arms too close.
Think about it this way - most acoustics are thick and hold your arm in much the same manner.

That's a GREAT looking Tele body!!
Who made that body? --Did you finish it or did you buy it finished??
When you build it, start a new thread and do a complete build up.

Check out my Tele build at "Complete Telecaster Build Pictoral."

It's a Mitey Mite Ash with Flame Maple top body. It came with the Cherry Burst finish. I built the guitar about 6 years ago. I put a "V" Maple set in frets neck on it. Also some nice Duncan Antiquities, Nickel plated vintage style bridge, vintage top hat knob, etc. It Rocks. I had 4 or 5 Teles and this one sounded the best. Sold the others. I wouldn't part with the Flamecaster. Out of the 6 or 8 (who's counting?) guitars I've put together this one sounds the best. For me it's a roll of the dice but on this one I just got luckey . You never know when you build one what it's going to sound like.
