So as much as I love strats, my heart has really been won over by teles. I'm thinking about gettin' something kinda flashy and with a different sound, so I've narrowed it down to a couple main choices: the koa (main interest), a TC-90, or a tele thinline (if I can get it in a honey blonde). Any input would help a ton, and any additional suggestions would be great, also!

i have a fender koa strat, its pretty awesome, except the bridge but you wont have it on a tele. my only tele that has gotten some head turns is my tele 60s reissue with bigsby. a couple people asked if i did that and how much. I just say I bought it this way. it's also awesome.

First off... I LOVE koa guitars.

But I've played both the koa Strat and Tele and neither rang my bell tone wise. Sure were pretty though.

I have both koa guitars from fender as well as a Lite Ash Tele and a MIJ Strat.

The Koa guitars are just beautiful, the sound is just a bit thicker than then non koa guitar, they have great voiceing.

Not as thick as a Les Paul, but a nice husky kind of voice..

What's up with the bridge on the strat? The tele has the brass saddles, I know, and I'm not too sure how much I like that since I do so much palm-muting... But the sixties reissue w/ Bigsby: do you think the trem is worth it? Do you use it often?

koa telecasters may not have the traditional teletwang but they sure sound sweet with slight mods. and there great to look at as well as being great to play. ill give fender credit for creating an afordable qaulity guitar.that i can use at gigs and not have to get heart palps if somebody looks at it the wrongway!!!!!thanks Fender!!!!!  :D

the strat has a 2 point trem, i don't like it. Palm muting sucks, gets it all out of tune. love it though. I have the tele w/bigsby. I'd say if you can get one get it. it is the best tele I've played.

My roomate has the Koa Tele and he loves it. The top is a vanear and the pick ups are semore duncan.

I have owned a few teles in my day. Some I have hated and some I have loved. I own a Muddy Waters Tele and it's great. I've own a tele custom (3 pickups) and I hated it. I owned a '62 tele custom and it was great. Played a '52 tele from the custom shop and it sucked. I played four 50th Aniverary Strats and didn't like any of them and then I played one more and I fell in love with it. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Every guitar is different. The bottom line: Play as many as you can get your hands on and pick one you like. When you fine "The" magic one, buy it! Don't waite. Don't say, "I'll get this model." Get "That guitar."

i.e.

I'm building a tele right now from parts:
'62 tele costom body 3-color sunburst w/ white binding.
Maple tele "clapton" "v" shaped neck.
Hum Bucker in the neck and Broadcaster PU in the bridge.
five way switch (coil tapping the HB)
Brass bridge and saddles
and mid-range boost on the tone pot (think Clapton Strat).
Bone nut and vinatage frets and tuners.
The whole package (parts and labor) under $1,200.00

Every guitar will be different and all have their place. This one is my "Andy Summers Tele."

I hope this advice helps. Expensive does not mean good. Like it, buy it, play the heck out of it.
