I got one yesterday and couldn't put it down once I got home. The more I played it, the more I fell in love with it. It plays and looks fantastic.

I just got mine on thursday.
It is an amazing guitar.
Right out of the box it was ready.
The action was like butter. The intonation was dead on!
It resonates well without being plugged in.
The pictures online are beautiful however they don't do it justice!
It is one gorgeous guitar!
Plugged in it does everything a telecaster is expected to do!
Don't hesitate to get one!

I finally had the chance to play one yesterday and it had to come home with me. The one I bought is a Guitar Center special run with a 2-Tone Sunburst finish. I wasn't sure it was a 60th Anniversary at first but upon closer inspection, doggone if it wasn't. :)

I'll post a pic or two later after I wake up and recover from playing it all night...

John

I ordered a Flametop 60th Anniversary Tele which I passed on for several reason.
While it did not affect my decision, the intonation set-up "out of the box" was so far off, that there were no harmonic tones at the 5th and 7th frets.

I had passed on a couple of MIM Tele's for that reason. That's why I ended up getting the American made tele! Your experience shows me that it isn't just the MIM's!
I feel very lucky to have gotten the one I did! Mine could have just as easily been a zonk too! Good Luck!!

I assume that the guitar could have been easily set-up, and this had nothing to do with why I did not buy the guitar. Unless a guitar cannot be properly adjusted, the original set-up should not affect a decision as to whether to buy or not buy.

The maple flame top should have been called a "lame top." The book matched Flamed maple top was extremely weak, to the point where the flamed maple top was nearly invisable, and the color varied from side to side of the book matched, flame top, maple halves under the bridge.

The guitar also had a long strange line on the back of the guitar which was either a very freak grain line for alder bodied guitar, or a filled crack, which I would find hard to believe.

The 60th Anniversary Limited Edition Flame Top Telecaster is also very different from the Flame Top Tele that was shown at NAMM which was a 3 color, not a 2 color burst finish, as on the production Flame Top, with the NAMM Tele having a gold plated American Deluxe bridge, not a gold American Standard bridge, as on the production guitar.

The guitar that I received, certainly did not look like this beautiful 60th Anniversary Flame Top Telecaster (prototype) that Fender displayed at NAMM in January, 2011 as a production example.

These are the reasons that I did not buy the guitar.
I assume that the guitar was able to be properly adjusted with a chromatic tuner.
The "out of the box" set up had nothing to do with it.

But you would think that a knowledgeable Fender assembly person at the Corona, CA plant would be able to adjust the intonation by eye using a tape measure to measure the High "E" saddle placement, and you would think that the guitar should still be able to reproduce harmonic tones at the 5th and 7th frets in "out of the box" condition.
